|Summary||0000529: Catalogue search may be slow|
|Description||On very large catalogues, most MySQL versions result in extremely slow query times (effectively spiking the CPU until a script timeout happens). This only happens when doing a general search, not a template search.|
We used to be able to do this okay, but different MySQL versions need optimising in different ways, and to make one version work properly we ended up breaking another. Optimise for the common case and introduce a hidden value for the non-common case.
Also, introduce a lower timeout for search hooks so if something does go wrong, it doesn't hurt the server in the process.

Fixed in git commit be56695 (https://github.com/chrisgraham/ocPortal/commit/be56695 [^] - link will become active once code pushed)
A hotfix (a TAR of files to upload) have been uploaded to this issue. These files are made to the latest intra-version state (i.e. may roll in earlier fixes too if made to the same files) - so only upload files newer than what you have already. Always take backups of files you are replacing or keep a copy of the manual installer for your version, and only apply fixes you need. These hotfixes are not necessarily reliable or well supported. Not sure how to extract TAR files to your Windows computer? Try 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/ [^]).
