Moving forward with Composr

ocPortal has been relaunched as Composr CMS. ocPortal 9 is superseded by Composr 10.

Head over to for our new site, and to our migration roadmap. Existing ocPortal member accounts have been mirrored.

This is a bright and BUSY theme that has been designed to use all the ocPortal core features that come with the default installation. It will not necessarily appeal to many, but the advantage here is that the theme, once installed, can be hacked about to remove modules that the user does not find necessary, and still retain the full power of ocPortal's functionality.

Many aspects of the rendering of the theme have either been adapted from the default display or have completely replaced the original thinking. This has been done to try to avoid the reliance on graphics, wherever possible. For example, 'core' system buttons that call on a gradient image for the background of the button have been superseded by a CSS3 property in this theme, and in the main the latest browser versions are able to render this without any difficulty. If you are not using the latest version of your favourite browser (mostly this applies to users of Internet Explorer), then I strongly recommend that you re-think your strategy, or lobby your SysAdmin at work to get off his or her butt and bring your system into the 21st century!

I am not too sure how many images I can post as attachments for this entry, so I will include the 'busiest' screen capture I have and let you trawl the functioning website for yourself. If I can add several images (for example, I've built special Admin, CMS and Collaboration Zone pages that can be substituted for the default ones…), then the need to click on to an external site becomes unnecessary. Let me know in the comments if your preference  is to trawl a 'live' site and I will arrange for full SuperMod access for a limited time.

Allow me to take this opportunity to draw your attention to the themeing work done by Jean and Harry-S whose offerings are available in the Themeing Forum. Jean has also posted several tutes on themeing in the Community Docs, and it would be worth your while to take a look.

You can find this theme at NineX, but what you can actually view is limited. I am reluctant to throw the site wide open, so if you still want to view other areas not accessible to Guests and newly joined members, then PT me with your details and I will temporarily add you to a higher UserGroup. Best I can do at the moment. Update: - Because I have been able to provide screencaps of the various zones and pages, I have elected to close the site to allow me to continue to build other themes. Thanks for your understanding.

P.S. If you feel the need to use any of the original images in this theme and you feel that small changes are necessary to images and fonts, contact me for the PSD and 'font' files. They have not been included in the download as they tend to increase the download size disproportionately.
