Came to me when helping someone in the chat room

I really like the idea of radio buttons as it infers a neutral action to be done when appropriate. Hopefully Chris can squeeze this in while working on a future version as I think it eliminates confusion even if it is only minimally a problem for non-English speakers. Hopefully, ocPortal will be adding many people for whom English is not their first language.

Wouldn't a simpler solution for now be to revers the checkbox operation. In other words turn it positive/positive? Wouldn't this entail an easy lanuage file change from Open Your site  (Checked) Close yoursite( unchecked) then in the function that does this just reverse the submit processing and then I imagine there should only be 1 or 2 other functions somehwere (that check if the sites open or closed) that needs updating too. Prob a lot faster than radio solution but also a lot clearer or easier to understand by all?

This has now been implemented for v10. We're doing a very major overhaul of the configuration system, reorganising pretty much all of it.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about Composr whenever you see the opportunity or support me on Patreon.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Phew, it took a while to articulate all that. Hope it makes sense.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only long winded one around here :-)
