Texas redneck checking inI have nothing to offer to the community as I barely understand most of the stuff I read. I mostly just follow directions that someone else has posted as a fix or a addon/mod to get what I want. Sorry that I am not some sort of guru that could help others more. I have played with ocportal last night and think it will be the perfect fit for my gaming community if I ever figure it out. I have several questions I have yet to find answers to though. Like should I use the very latest version or wait to see how it works for others for a little while? Also I need to be able to add a teamspeak viewer and a member list to the front page. Can these be done simply with addons or modules or must it be all manually coded? I cant seem to find this information, and the last two items are must have items. |

On your question about the version, Download the latest 8.1 version. Also question two and tree I can say its possible in ocPortal, for Teamspeak You need to use some comde as Code
[semihtml] then you can use the html code from Teamspeck insert within this{/semihtml]

I already went with the newest version 8.1 I figured it shouldnt be to complicated with Teamspeak but since I am an extremely new to ocPortal I figure it will take me awhile. I also found this addon called ocGroupies that appears to do what I need for the members. But I will have to condense it to just their nics for a list for the left or right side. I dont want the entire page flooded with the Clan member list.

Welcome to ocPortal. I hope you will find all the tools and answers you need to get your game site going. I'm also interested in adding Teamspeak 3 to my BF3 Theme demo site as I've been using this program for years playing Battlefield. I'll have a look at the code needed as soon as I have a chance and get back to you. Concerning your member list on the Welcome page, You might want to test the possibilities of the octhanks addon as well. In coordination with the ranking system and groups along with the right Icons, its "Recent Points Awards" displays as you want it on one of the front panels. This could probably be a great competitive tool on your site. You can have a look at the "Recent Points Awards" on the top left corner on my site and also checkout my Hall of Fame . The earned badges become part of their profile and proudly display them on their forum posts. Welcome aboard! Jean |

I spotted your BF3 theme right away. I have been online gaming and members of clans for over a decade. I have built a few sites but I am definitely not a webmaster or anything of the sort. I really am a slow learner so it may be awhile before I get this figured out. I learn reading a little and screwing up things a lot. Its just my backwards way of doing things. The member list is something needed by certain anti cheat sites that stream game servers. It is a requirement to have a list of clan members on the home page in clear view (no drop downs etc) to use their services. Teamspeak and Ventrilo options are a must, as well as a nice Forum. This is just from experience as members can look to see who if anyone is on without having to log in. Members just like the forums to be easy to use and look nice with good options to make crazy posts. The default forum seems to be as good or better than any other CMS from what I have seen. I think ocPortal has great potential in the gaming communities. Something the other CMS seem to lack for clan based sites. The layout by default seems to be quite workable for "must have" items for clans. If the member list, and VOIP blocks were included with the package it would be miles ahead of the Blog based CMS like Joomla or Drupal. These items I think would greatly expand the use of ocPortal as I think many gamers would like to come to a CMS but just see it as a huge undertaking starting/learning all over again and have to start modding the system right away just to get their essential items on it. Our current site is a phpBB site nothing fancy at all. www.afksite.net

And where is the freaking spell check for my posts? I have never seen a WYSIWYG editor without one. At least not one with 3 lines of editors enabled.

I had a quick look at the first link, and although its for an older version of ocportal (v2.6) I've got it partially working. I get a connection refused and I can't find a public server to test it with. Isn't the spell checker supposed to come from your browser and not the editor itself

Here you can see it in the left side. http://ssahs.ipage.com/Newocportal I used this http://ocportal.com/uploads/website_specific/ocportal.com/mov_play.php?file=video_tutorials/v_google_map.mov and stole the know how. Added my html teamspeak code from http://www.tsviewer.com and it came right up. I really want the side columns to be 240px wide anyway but I havent learned where that is yet. I dont know whats wrong with the browser spell checker it underlines the misspelled word but doesnt let me have a option to correct it. Thank you temp1024 for checking.

Your site is closed to the public so I can't take a look. Can you post your comcode here? Make sure you put it in a [code] tag. I assumed that it wasn't spell checking at all. To see suggested spelling you have to hold down the CTRL key when you right click while using the WYSIWYG editing.

Take a look at Configuration->Theme options. See specifically "Panel width" and "Panel width with spacing". I think these are the settings you want to adjust. There is a feature request in the tracker to move theme settings into the theme.ini for a theme (0000318: Transfer theme options (like fixed-width) to theme.ini - ocPortal feature tracker). I am assuming panel settings would also be included here (but I am sure I will be corrected if wrong. Some sponsorship for this feature request might make initial setup of site's much easier in the future. zBob |

Panel width setting was already eliminated for in-development version (v9), now is just a regular part of the CSS. If I answered something that you think should be in the documentation, please take the initiative and add it to the community documentation. We really need people to help out here and build a well-organised large support resource. |

It is always best to disable WYSIWYG when adding HTML or Java-script code to a Panel. I did not know there was such an addon TeamSpeak Blok LOL until you found it. Temp, If this can help? My pals global-conflict.org TS3 server id=917390 and IP: 89.163.162.206:9987 It'd be interesting if you could revitalize that block Meanwhile, I've made a Custom Comcode for Teamspeak 3 (edited: It now works fine) I've tested it on my BF3 Site (v7.1.5) and it does work perfectly. I've made a copy for Sahs which now works fine on my test site: The replacement text for your TS3, if you want to make your own Sahs is this: Code
<div id="ts3viewer_926603" style="width:; background-color:;"> </div>

I just realized that I omitted to tell you in the previous message an important piece of information if you want to reproduce my Custom Comcode for Teamspeak 3. When you are through creating the custom code; to use it on your panel you just have to insert something like this: Code
[box="AFK TS3" dimensions="159px|240px"][teamspeak3][/teamspeak3][/box]
By the way, the convenience of comcode is that you can paste this anywhere you like on your website where you see the little icon c, even on your forums and any new page you would like to create. one other thing I've overlooked as I was pressed for time then, is that the color scheme of the suggested code might not work on your dark background site. In this case change this code: "text=000000" for "text=ffffff" this will set the text to white instead of black. I saw another good source for code with different iframes at: http://www.clanwarz.com/teamspeak3/teamspeak3-server-status-code.php Hoping you can use this. Jean

Man are you reading my mind? I have been pretty much trying to figure this out for about 3 hrs. I am learning more but my goodness I know what Ron White meant when he said "You cant fix stupid" I already had the color change figured out. That was about 1 minute of the last 3hrs. There are several sources for the code around. I know Game Tracker - Server Stats, List Search, Ranking, Banners, & Social Network for Gamers has several banners as they call them one or two of which list the members Thank you again as I really am not use to moving this slow. EDIT: Well Im still at brick wall it didnt work. It created the block but all that is in it is Code
[teamspeak3][/teamspeak3]
So that tells me I have an error in my custom comcode? EDIT #2: OK I can preview it on the custom comcode page and its perfect. I have double checked and rechecked all I can stand and for now it should work based on your example. All I can figure out is it is something to do with me running the 8.1 version. Thats all I can deduct at the moment. Something so simple should not be taking me a day to complete I have a headache now. Ill take a break and try again later.

I'm sorry for the 3 hours lost. lol Don't beat yourself on the head too hard, we all have those moments. I know I do. Like you I learned much of what I know by doing, and that has to be from trials and errors. I had the exact same problem as you this afternoon after I made the custom comcode. It would not work live and I even wrote a note to that effect here on my post. I was about to report a bug for 8.1 since I had no such problem for my BF3 theme which is a version 7.1.5, until I realized I was editing the Forum panel_left instead of the Welcome panel_left. Maybe you're doing the same thing. Check this out from: Admin_zone-->Content-->Pages (comcode pages). Jean |
