This has been discussed before. once you log on using Facebook, you are pretty much stuck with that option. This makes sense in that someone who joins using their Facebook account is unlikely to ever want to create an ocPortal login.

To re-enable your regular ocPortal login, you will need to do a password reset on your account and avoid logging in using Facebook in the future.

That is at least my understanding.

Bob

If I may add that as far as I was able to test this feature, the Facebook login for the admin cannot be used on the adminzone login page, however from the site's welcome page it will work fine for the admin with all the usual rights. In order to login from the adminzone login page, for instance when the site is closed, I suggest creating a second admin username which will not be joined with Facebook. I find it very convenient to be able to login with Facebook in and out automatically and still retain my admin rights on the site.

I knew it had been discussed before, and that's the reason I have not logged in using my FB credincials.  I don't need anymore problems than I already have that's for sure.

I am not using the Facebook add-on yet because of this very reason: I want to make sure I understand all the ins and outs of the way it works before proceeding so this is all great information for me.

Chris has said that Facebook is very aggressive in injecting itself into the login; perhaps just the action of authorizing the app or whatever it is you mentioned in your previous post was enough to link the account to Facebook.

Have you tried the password reset? I've seen that mentioned several times by different people as the solution for unlinking the account to Facebook.

I guess maybe I didn't explain my problem very well.  I've not logged in since installing the Facebook addin.  Once the addin is installed it defaults to wanting you to log in using your facebook username and password.  Since I had read the thread explaining the issues with that I had not, on purpose, logged in yet.  After installing the addin it gives you the option to log in using either your Facebook log in or you site's normal login.  However, i'm not able to select the option to log in using my sites regular log in because my screen reader cannot tell that there's a choice.  I can see where it says, "Log in using your Facebook account," and I can see, "Log in using your Chip & Tracy's place username and password," but they don't appear as links or options to my screen reader.

That's a strange one. Could you remind me what screen reader software and version you use please? I'll try it out. Sounds like a bug.

In the mean-time deleting themes/default/templates_custom/LOGIN_SCREEN.tpl and themes/default/templates_cached/EN/LOGIN_SCREEN.tcp should remove Facebook from the full login screen but leave it in the login block.

Is that Facebook password reset or the site password reset we should be resetting.

I made the mistake where I was logged into my account on our website but into my wifes Facebook account when I installed the addon. Where it should off been my wife login on site and her facebook account.
So now even if I delete the app from the account and re do it all again, it always logs me in to the site via facebook not her.

one other question, when it posts to the facebook account, what posts does it populate across from the website? Is it the forum posts or the news post or something different?

Thanks

I'm not yet using the Facebook addon so I cannot answer your second question.

As for the password reset, it would be for the site as you are trying to decouple the Facebook account from the member profile. Specifically, if I recall correctly, you need to logout (wait a minute as some JS needs to run – I think this is what Chris said) and then use the "Forgot password" option at login.

I'm just reporting what I recall reading in the forums but I think this is right.

Ah okay if its the site password then I need to wait as I get an error trying to get into profiles, there is a fix but it did not work for me. I am not surprised as nothing is suppose to be easy LOL.. As for the JS issue yeah I have worked that out. Its just annoying as the wrong account gets logged into the site. Thanks so far for the help :)

I think you may be misunderstanding me regarding the password rest. This is not about resetting the password in member profiles but rather doing a password recovery at login. You want to log out and wait a bit then hit the login button and go to the main password screen and choose the "Forgot your password" option and then follow the directions in the email. Hopefully, this image will make it clearer:

I am pretty sure that will allow you to break the connection between your ocPortal profile and the Facebook login.

Hi Bob,

Yeah were on the same page :) .
The problem is that if I go and do that, I get the following error.
"
This member is in a usergroup which is protected from passwords resets, for a higher level of security. "

So I cannot reset the password. LOL.
And I cannot get into the users to be able to even change my status to a lower group.

Ah I think I found a way to fix my facebook login issue up LOL.

I went into the database and removed the following word from under the user part
m_password_compat_scheme - facebook
was able to sign in with my wifes one and now it has moved the facebook word to her user name in the site.

So it looks like that 3 hrs nightmare is done :):)

Now the only thing to answer will be

"when it posts to the facebook account, what posts does it populate across from the website? Is it the forum posts or the news post or something different?"

I just dont get what gets ported to facebook account and where do I write it on the site that it gets pulled from.

Thansk Bob for your help by the way :)

Very clever. I was looking for the setting that disallowed the password change in the ocpX_f_group_* tables but couldn't find it. Your approach is better anyway as it affects only a single user.

Wish I could help with your other questions but, as I have mentioned, I don't havethe Facebook addon installed. I knw several others do so they can hopefully provide you with more information.

It still shows there is a bug or something with profiles, well at least for me since the new version came out.

When I went into the database I was actually going to change my group to a lower one and then do my password reset .LOL I then noticed the word facebook and out of the 500 users I only had it. So it worked out okay that way.  Thanks for trying though.
And yes I will await someone to explain to me which posts show up ect as I have no idea how to even test it if its actually working .LOL

Was your account an administrator account? I found where the option for "Member's passwords may not be reset using 'Forgot your password' feature but it cannot be set for an administrator account.

The specific option by usergroup looks to be stored in the ocpX_gsp table but you need to make sure you have the right group id when you go looking for it.

The better option would seem to be to just temporarily uncheck any (or all) usergroups for the "Member's passwords may not be reset using 'Forgot your password' feature" in Security->Global privileges: Members, usergroups and forums. But if this was an admin account, this really should not have been an issue.

yeah the problem is you cannot use forgot your password as a Administrator, never knew that till today LOL.
Obviously I assume the only other way to reset the password would be having another Admin person to do it.
Which is what I tried to do but I get the profile error on the site, so I cant get that far. LOL.
Its one of those days where you are not allow to accomplish things quickly or easily.
