I am not sure what changed with the new notifications system but now I only get notified when someone "LIKES" something I have posted but I used to get notified when someone replied to a topic in which I am participating and I no longer do. Why is that?

1. could you open a bug report ticket with whatever details I'd need to test this on your site, and info about what browser you are using.
2. You might find something in your browser's error log about a corrupt javascript_swfupload.js, put &keep_no_minify=1 into the URL (to turn off JS compression) and then let me know the error (i.e. line number and error message).

… (a mis-placed ";" changed the logic – it was meant to just wipe out placeholder text, but ended up wiping all text)

The "ensure_1d" problem was fixed way back, possible RC1 - but you might have JAVASCRIPT_EDITING.tpl or JAVASCRIPT_POSTING.tpl overrides.

• When doing the 'theme' upgrade, the upgrader DOES report overrides and recommends the action to be taken.
• In my case, these are lengthy reports.
• I have been working through the report, but in this case I hadn't quite reached 'JAVASCRIPT_POSTING.tpl', hence the issue.

'Likes' would be a specific notification you can turn on or off from the notification settings form.

Replies to your own topic would be triggered by the special "Automatically monitor content you've touched" setting on the notification settings form. If that's not checked, it will only do it if you explicitly choose to monitor a topic.

I have Checkmarked the Content Touched thingy but I still don't get notified of my forum topics unless someone likes something.

Fixed!

JAVASCRIPT_POSTING.tpl was the override culprit.

Allow me a brief explanation.

I don't actually have a recommendation for a solution for this 'problem' for other users that find themselves in a similar predicament. All I know is that you cannot ignore the report results!

Back to work to identify further overrides that require to be 'changed'/'reinstated'/'whatever'.

I shall be more careful to check before whingeing openly in forum!

I may (or may not) have mentioned it before, but I've spent about 5 or 6 years in Zuid-Limburg in the past, and a cold, rainy Netherlands is not an attractive proposition while the sun starts to warm us up here Portugal.

Of course, you probably wouldn't consider living in Zuid-Limburg as the same as living in the Netherlands, but I won't start that discussion here!

Same error happens when I'm in the menu editor and try to expand 'Zone: Welcome'. Same as with the site tree editor, all other branches open as expected.
