I think you are looking in the wrong spot Harry. It is the little tumbs up/down at the to of each post next to the time posted.

I am sure I am being quite dense but  cannot seem to find how to turn ratings on for my site. The site is a 7.1.6->* upgrade with no TPLs over-ridden. I have ticked "Ratings" (Is rating of entries enabled?) in Feature options.

I see I can allow ratings on a per blog/news item post, but there is no sign of ratings in catalogs or forums. I know I have seen this setting before and thought it was on either the catalog catalog category page but I don't see it there. Anyone with clues?

Okay, I just found the rating checkbox on each individual catalog entry but surely there must be a way to default this value to yes.

It works statistically, so if you have it off for lots of entries, that will be default.

You could do a query…

Code

UPDATE ocp_catalogue_entries SET allow_rating=1;

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks, Chris.
I assume that this is also true for galleries: "UPDATE ocp_galleries SET allow_rating=1;"
