Some simple errors in the setup

Hi guys,
Just to let you know of some simple omissions in the setup.

I installed the software by manually copying the files to my website and then using the list on this site to chmod the files. There were I think 4 files that required 777 permissions that were not on your list of settings. As I tried to install the software it kept telling me that it did not have permission for a certain file. So I would alter the permission of the identified file until I was successful. Being an idiot I did not note down the particular files sorry.

Secondly, when I added some calendar events and selected "Public Holiday" and then added the event, the software could not find the public_holiday icon in the default folder. There was an icon there called "holiday" so i just renamed it "public_holiday" and it then showed up.

I will try to remember to note other minor issues rather than just overcome them.

Thanks again

Hi colin,

Don't feel bad. I did the manual install as well, and received permissions errors. I did the same thing by changing the offending file perms until I could access the site without error, but didn't make a note of the files. O_o In my case, I seem to remember more than 4 files though.

Chris, I didn't want to add a support ticket since you posted that this issue is fixed. I did not see this post before I re-did my install. So the following was compiled from the download a couple of days ago. This is a clean install.

Manual Installation Errors.

1. Copy source files to docroot.
2. run fixperms.sh (success).
3. copy favicon to docroot (got an error from previous install).
4. url-> simulatedconcepts.com/install.php
5. completed install steps.
6. Page: Details required for file management
7. click Proceed.
- Error
- Click StackTrace: Cannot write to simulatedconcepts.com/home/sources/hooks/systems/config_defa
ult/bug_report_text.php. File permissions for it (or the directory it is in) have not been set correctly. (version: 7.1.5, PHP version: 5.3.5-1ubuntu7.3, URL: /adminzone/index.php?page=admin_setupwizard&type=step10&keep
_fatalistic=1).
8. click browser-back button to close stack trace.
9. click back arrow.
10. chmod -r sources
11. click proceed.
- Error
- Click StackTrace: Cannot write to simulatedconcepts.com/home/themes/default/templates/BLOCK_MA
IN_BLOCK_HELP.tpl. File permissions for it (or the directory it is in) have not been set correctly. (version: 7.1.5, PHP version: 5.3.5-1ubuntu7.3, URL: /adminzone/index.php?page=admin_setupwizard&type=step10&keep
_fatalistic=1).
12. click browser-back button to close stack trace.
13. click back arrow.
14. chmod -r themes
15. click proceed.
- Error
- Click StackTrace: Cannot write to simulatedconcepts.com/home/adminzone/pages/modules/admin_ocf
_ldap.php. File permissions for it (or the directory it is in) have not been set correctly. (version: 7.1.5, PHP version: 5.3.5-1ubuntu7.3, URL: /adminzone/index.php?page=admin_setupwizard&type=step10&keep
_fatalistic=1).
16. click browser-back button to close stack trace.
- Error now references hphp.sh  /*Note NEW error */
17. clicked back arrow.
18 Click Proceed to see the error again and get stacktrace message.
- rootkit error is displayed.
- Click StackTrace: Cannot write to simulatedconcepts.com/home/rootkit_detection.php. File permissions for it (or the directory it is in) have not been set correctly.
19. click browser-back button to close stack trace.
- Step 10 of 10: Congratulations, the Setup Wizard has now completed! …
20. Click AdminZone.
- Admin Zone is displayed and no error messages are displayed.

/end_steps
It apparently was not necessary to chmod any of the dirs/files listed in the last three error messages.

The site appears to be functioning normally now.

Hi,

That looks like either you don't have the PHP FTP extension, or you chose to tell ocPortal to not do file management with FTP.
Plus it not being a SuExec server (i.e. web server does not run with same user as file owner).

Yes, I disabled the ftp option, and yes, owner:group is not set correctly.

Thanks for the help!
