Whoah! You just made me very happy :)

Just a few questions though as this is a system I can really put to good use but I want to check out some features:

1) Would it be possible for members to sign-up/unsubscribe from newsletters?

2) Would it be possible to have different templates for emails so we can design different looks (assumes HTML emails)

3) Would it (assuming HTML email capabilites) send out a HTML and plain text version so users can see it whatever the weather

4) Would it be possible to automatically add news headlines from a news category/forum

5) Would there be any way to automatically add a list of titles and links to new pages in a zone

I'm assuming a lot of this could be done with a bit of fiddling if it's not already in there.

1 - yep, and the interest levels are there still for each individual newsletter.

2 - Something may be sent out to multiple newsletters simultaneously, so when you do the writing there's nothing stating what newsletter it is for. However, the NEWSLETTER_DEFAULT template will continue to exist and what I'd recommend is that you use a little tempcode to differentiate against some arbitrary URL parameter that you pass into the writing form. Like…

This is the latest newsletter about beta news.

3 - Yes, no change here.

4 - Yes, the whats-new feature does this. It also does it for a load of other things. You can customise how it's put together using templates.

5 - As above, except there's no per-zone filtering. It'd be a trivial mod.

Roll on v3 :)

As for the back to the future thing… perhaps some advanced sort of page/theme versioning system?

Just today's whacky guess :)
