ocPortal 8 RC5 released - Comments

I was hoping this one would have cleared up with rc5. Not sure if it's a bug or my system.

Added a custom catalog field with this data type "A link to an item of 'catalogue_category' content", and later received a popup on Chrome when entering the catalog entry screen, and that field just hangs there showing as loading. No errors or stack traces other than the popup.

This one is from the 'Site Tree Editor' trying to expand the 'Zone: Welcome' branch. All other branches seem to expand properly.

Problem(s) transitioning between 'Quick reply' and 'Full editor'

I don't think we've gone up to an RC5 before. RC1 should have been a beta, but on the tail end of this we are being very strict by:

• ensuring no new functionality (however temptingly small) goes into v8 (we have an 'unstable' branch in git)
• making sure the v8 gold is truly a copy of the final RC release, rebadged. i.e. v8 will only be released when an RC is found to have close to zero bugs.

I'm hoping this is that final RC, pushing quick fixes for all the little issues people have picked up on has taken quite some time over the last weeks .

I've encountered so many errors so far that I don't even intend to continue trying to sort things out on my cloned site.

I'll probably get over it, but for now it looks like 7.1.6 is going to be the last ocP upgrade I intend to live with.

Something funky is definitely happening even on these forums which is running RC3.

Last time I tried to switch from quick to full editor (I don't know which RC version it was) my text would appear in the full editor and I could add text to it, but when I previewed it, the original text from the quick reply disappeared and only the changes that I made while in full editor stayed.

I didn't have the time then to report it, and ended up forgetting about it.

I am not sure what changed with the new notifications system but now I only get notified when someone "LIKES" something I have posted but I used to get notified when someone replied to a topic in which I am participating and I no longer do. Why is that?

Are you upgrading each RC as each RC is released (7.x.x -> RC1 -> RC2 etc.), or are you starting over from 7.x.x each time (7.x.x -> RC5)?

I finally jumped on the bandwagon with RC4 upgrading my clone from 7.1.6 and had very few problems, but I'm probably not digging as deep for bugs as some are.

I notice that behavior on this forum with the current RC. I have also noticed this problem when I first started using ocP (early 7.x), but it seemed to clear up after a few upgrades. I had gotten into the habit of copying my text before switching to the full editor, so at first I didn't notice the new glitch.

FLV is a container format; when QT complains that it needs another plug-in, it's basically saying that it does not have a codec to decode the stream. Do you know what the underlying format packaged in the FLV file is?

The real issue is why are your browsers not handling the FLV file directly since they all support this container format. Is it truly any FLV that does not decode in browser? How about an MPEG-4 stream packaged as FLV?
