HELP!!!!!

I installed the WAP addon to my ocPortal, and it trashed my 8 pound a month 1&1 hosting! No matter what I do, changing permissions, deleting ocPortal etc. I always get a 403 Forbidden error. I cant even host a simple html page! Is there some kind of VIRUS?!?!

did you delete all files including the .htaccess as it sounds like that is misconfigured.

 Yes, I removed every last file including all hidden ones, i even recreated the .htaccess with no luck. I think the addon must have a virus in it, because my hosting was perfectly working before. It broke when I clicked 'Install' on the addon. I cant do anything now. If I ever meet whoever created the WAP addon, I am going to knock him into the middle of next millenium!
 

Could you open a support ticket about this please? This sounds like a permissions problem somewhere, and I can assure you that there isn't a virus in the WAP addon (assuming you downloaded it off this site).

 OK. I believe you, I was just a little suspicious as to why WAP was never integrated…

I know what happened as I had the same problem when using 1and1
You have to delete the file I mentioned.
Also install the ad on by just uploading the extracted files do not run the installer or the same thing will happen.

This is starting to make me feel like a n00b!
There is probably only a 1 in 10000000000000000000 chance, but could it be the fact I am using 1and1 UK? I gather from your signature (lol) you used the US one. It shouldn't be though, because Linux is Linux… (I used to have a, um, server so I know exactly how it works, although I have never actuall edited a htaccess file)

This happened before, and I gave up for a few months. I came back to try again, and it worked. Strange. But I don't want to wait another few months because two members from my site keep emailing me asking when the site will be back up. (I am surprised how loyal they are!)
 

1and1 has some strange filters or some thing on the server as a lot of times when I tried to upload different cms's It would not let me as it had language packs that were not supported.
When I removed the language packs, basically all but english the upload and cms worked fine.
I left 1and1 do to the problems I had.
I now use downtownhost.com

Ah I left it for that reason as the one I use now is only 4.95 a month, way better then the 20 a month I was paying for 1and1.
Then again you might have thier cheaper plan.

 No I cant leave because I paid abnormally. They didnt take my mums debit card and they sent a warning. We had to send a cheque.

Hey, if thats in dollars, than thats about 2 pounds. Cheap!

Did you put ocPortal in it's own folder?
delete that folder and then put ocPortal back into it.
