Alright I've been humming right along but now I hit brass tax people.

I've been looking, but haven't yet gotten a hold of a couple of things.
  1. I'd like to have  search block up on the top right of the page (site wide search)
  2. I'd like to be able to change the font, color, spacing of the logo wizard generated logo
  3. I'd like to add a horizontal navbar that is end user editable via the admin interface
see screenshot below.

Thanks!

1- {$BLOCK,block=main_search}
2- look in the default theme's theme.ini and copy across the stuff and change it
3- just a menu, e.g. see how zone menu done in HEADER.tpl

Making good progress.

The search is fake currently but I am studying how the admin search ( lost looking for something) works, and once I got that down… BOOM!

i cheated on the top nav menu by editing the page panel_top for the welcome zone.  Limitation there is I can't style it differently.  I'm looking at header.tpl to get it in there and stylized green.

check out the screenshot.

Just tested now, worked for me. Your colour is a grey, close to white, so you probably didn't notice.

For search, either edit the search block template (you can remove lots of cruft; you'll be able to find it's name using the template tools in the footer). Or, you can just code your own search form in pure HTML, just make sure it goes to the right URL ({$PAGE_LINK,site:search:results} I think).

Nice work :).

Ok,

so progress!  Here is where I stand today.

I'd like my menu to be over to the left starting 20 px in.  I'm battling the CSS to make it happen.

Indeed that is it Fletch…

problem is that also moves the Site | Forum Menu on top - which I don't want.

Trying to divorce the two… but that class is killing me.

I tried overwriting it by placing my menu in it's own div with separate styling…but I can't seem to win.

Perhaps have a tilt at HEADER.tpl and see if you can get in a 'vanilla' menu ( bog-standard linkage) for the two on the top, and allow the full power of the JS to deal with the the other line.

Wild guess I'm afraid …..

Try this directive, it should give you a bit more precision only on moving the text:

Code

.menu_type__zone {
padding-right: 20px;
}
