Youtube block

Hi guys, I know we can use the Gallery for Video but is there a way to have a Youtube Video on the main page in its own block to save on Bandwith.

Thanks OZ

Ya this can be done.
Do you actually want it to look like a block or just be the video on the home page?

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

You can try putting the embedded code on the home page and see if you like that.
Put the simihtml tags around it.

it worked fine on my end.

Code

[semihtml]
<object width='425' height='366'><param name='movie' value='http://www.youtube.com/cp/vjVQa1PpcFOEtGw-F5we-Say0IigIdLaKocbXwQH4tE=''></param><param name='wmode' value='transparent'></params><embed src='http://www.youtube.com/cp/vjVQa1PpcFOEtGw-F5we-Say0IigIdLaKocbXwQH4tE='' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' wmode='transparent' width='425' height='366'></embed></object>
[/semihtml]

I'm not real big on building skins as of right now but if you would like some custom graphics done for your site I am more than willing as long as I have the time. -\-PhrozenStudios-/-

Change </params> to </param> (second set of 'parameters'). That should do the trick.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

I can not recall for sure but I think I looked at how it was in the html com code.
Either that or I put it in hmtl] instead of semihtml]

If you mean the YouTube insertion, here is an example:

Code

[semihtml]
<object width="425" height="373"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/U0X2rbfF1n0&hl=en&rel=0&color1=0x2b405b&color2=0x6b8ab6&border=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/U0X2rbfF1n0&hl=en&rel=0&color1=0x2b405b&color2=0x6b8ab6&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="373"></embed></object>
[/semihtml]

If you use only HTML, then the

Code

[html] ... [/html]
tags will suffice.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

I think i switched it to the html to get it to work but I do not recall for sure.
Go head and give both a try and see which works for you and if you are still having issues let us know and we would be glad to help you.

Hmm, okay, because i did semihtml and that only showed the code.. when i used html, it didn't show anything at all. :P .. no video and no coding. :(

I'm trying to put it on the main SITE page, above the SEARCH and below the PIC of the day, etc. *nod*

Could you show the code you are trying?
When you post it here put it in {code} tags
Change { to [ and } to ].
That way I might be able to find out why its not working.

Amy makes a valid point. It helps to see the code.

However, if you're trying to insert the YouTube presentation on your main site page, below the IOTD box, try this (it's the same excerpt I posted previously, but it is now enclosed in a 'div' …

Code

[semihtml]
<div style="width: 35%; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto"><object width="425" height="373"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/U0X2rbfF1n0&hl=en&rel=0&color1=0x2b405b&color2=0x6b8ab6&border=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/U0X2rbfF1n0&hl=en&rel=0&color1=0x2b405b&color2=0x6b8ab6&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="373"></embed></object></div><br class="float_passer" />
[/semihtml]
… you may have to change the display dimensions to suit your page display.

The code would be helpful if even that doesn't work.

Okay, so I tried the code you posted, pasting it exactly as you have it to my page.. and still coming up with no video.. just the code showing. Otherwise, this is what I'm trying to put in there;

Code

[semihtml]
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nxWJY7fOAW8&hl=en&color1=0xcc2550&color2=0xe87a9f"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nxWJY7fOAW8&hl=en&color1=0xcc2550&color2=0xe87a9f" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
[/semihtml]

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. :P ..
