I've racked my brain over and over and just cannot seem what to edit here...

I'm designing a theme for a "fansite" for a client of mine. In the attachment, you'll that the login screen is has a white area. That needs to be black.

155 views (34 Kb)

Using Firebug, I get that it's global.css that is being used:

Firebug said

.re_body {
-moz-background-clip: border;
-moz-background-inline-policy: continuous;
-moz-background-origin: padding;
background: #000000 none repeat scroll 0 0;
color: #FFFFFF;
padding: 0 !important;
}
global.css (line 175)
.re_body, #htmlarea {
font-family: 'Verdana','Arial','Helvetica',sans-serif;
font-size: 0.8em;
margin: 0;
}

Is there an another file I should be looking at, too?

You seem to be looking at the body tag's CSS there, but the white bit is a lot deeper than the body tag. I think .top_level_wrap_fixed .global_middle may be what you want.

Yay, that worked. Just changed the text from "white" to "black" in that area you pointed me to.

I'm having this same problem, but the fix isn't working for me.  Gere's what I have

.top_level_wrap_fixed .global_middle {
   background: black url('{$IMG,background_image}') no-repeat 20px 44px;
   padding: 5px;
}

Hello FA-MAS,

If you include a picture of your problem, it might be easier to advise you.
You might be looking to integrate your .global middle with your black background color. In this case you have to change the .global_middle, and .fake_middle_continuation by specifying that the background-color is transparent like so: (find this bit of code in global.css)

Code

.global_middle, .fake_middle_continuation {
background-color: transparent
}

Did you clear the cache?

My theme has black as a background color also and when I edited the login page to get rid of the white it took me a looong time to find the css source to make it black.

The CSS code that FA-MAS shows should be right. As I remember there were 2 places I had to edit to get the whole area black and one was really hard for me to locate.

Reminder to download firebug (for FireFox) if you haven't when searching for code.

I don't know how I ever got anything done before I heard about firebug on this forum. This is a basic tool for your toolbox.
