Please apply this hotfix:
0001856: Error during theme wizard - ocPortal feature tracker

Unfortunately while fixing a user-experience issue in the latest release, I made a gaffe that caused this issue.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thank you very much! This is unrelated, but since you replied here, why do you think I receive an Error 403 when saving the Site Preferences in my configuration? Thanks! :)

modsecurity issue, contact web host. Unfortunately a lot of people get this and we can't feasibly workaround it. It's due to host locking things down.

Good day again sir, do you think I can change the time zone of the site through .php through ftp access? I cannot change the site config so I hope perhaps I can change the php. What file do I edit?

You'd have to write a script to do that, so it's not really a sustainable solution, there are other things you'd want to change too.

Is the web host really refusing to turn off modsecurity?

I am so frustrated with webhosts. The modsecurity people only designed modsecurity for use by experts, but the hosts just enable it for everyone with no way to turn it off. The hosts therefore really do have a responsibility to configure it to meet your needs, given they chose to put this non-standard software there.

Who's the host?

This is their reply as I contacted them. What do I tell them?

Tell them the URL to your site options screen, give them an admin login to try it, and tell them the error you see.

They told me they could save properly, so I asked them to just change the time zone to +8:00. I gave them detailed steps and this is what they replied, that it is already done. Seems like they aren't actually checking because I just checked and the setting is still in UTC. Oh well… Thanks a lot for your help! :)
