Which template is the global template for the footer on the website? The reason I ask is because I having a Comet Chat installed on my website and they are asking me this:

"How to edit footer (template to edit)"

Can anyone help me with this so I can point their installers in the right direction? Thanks in advance - The LocalMC

Try GLOBAL_HTML_WRAP.tpl, or, if you've changed things already, GLOBAL.tpl.

I would hazard a guess that 'they' want to add a link to their software, hence their request to be able to edit the footer.

Make sure that is what you are prepared to accept, and that it doesn't zapppppp other 'critical' elements of your site footer, and/or its display.

Thanks for the feedback Fletch. I've used this Comet Chat before on a Wordpress website, and it worked great. It really tied together the social aspect of our site that we are shooting for. But now that we changed everything over to ocPortal, I'm just hoping that their installer can get it to work. Plus that they guaranteed me a full refund if they couldn't ;).

I'm pretty confident that it will. There are numerous CMS, social, and other website tools that it is already running on successfully, and they have all the examples on their site PHP chat software, Footer chat, In-page chat software | CometChat.

The chat is a lot like the Facebook chat in how it feels for the user, and that's basically all of our traffic. That makes it easier for 1st time users on our website to jump right in to the social atmosphere that we hope to create for our users.

However I do agree, and heed your warning about the installation of this possibly causing bugs, and I'm just praying that paying money out of pocket to have this installed on my site puts that liability on their shoulders not mine. To be absolutely sure, I downloaded a full backup of my entire website ;) gotta cover my a** right, lol.

Anyway, thanks again for getting back to me. I truly appreciate your help - The LocalMC
