Changing fonts acroos entire site

Excuse me if some of what I'm about to ask seems obvious.  Not being able to see, I've not concentrated on changing the appearence of ocP that much.  My wife wanted to change the seed color of our site from the default.  So I fired up the theme wizard, and let her choose her color and made the changes.  Well the color is now a beautiful green, or so she tells me.  The problem is now our logo is green, and the defalut text in the panels, (Search, Calendar etc,) are almost unreadable.  When I looked in the tutorials, allan has made a tutorial or two on themeing, but they are videos which are no good to me.  Could I get a little direction on fixing what's wrong?

Give me the URL, Chip, and I'll try to 'Firebug' it for you.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Thanks Chip.

I note that you have probably already corrected the display for the menu as I can clearly read the menu links. However, in case I've misunderstood, let me know if I am way off base.

The logo: I see what you mean, but since it is an image I would hesitate to guess what 'colour' you'd want it displayed as. I can take a stab at 're-colouring' it, but I would need to know what basic colour you desire.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Thanks Fletch, I re-uploaded the logo and that fixed that.  The logo is actually a picture of a sign a friend made for Tracy and me to hang outside our home, so it is the color of wood, and green wasn't getting it.lol

  It has been a very long time since I've messed around with CSS, but even that said, the global css file is confusing me a bit. The lines start with,

Code

{$THEME_WIZARD_COLOR,
and then followed by percentages.  I'm assuming this is a mix of css and tempcode.

I would like to change the main font color, but I'm not seeing where to do that at.

Ah, yes.

The percentage figures relate to the colour seeding when you use the theme wizard.

You can still make changes by actually editing the colours in the CSS properties themselves by commenting out (use /* … and … */) each reference to the pre-set colours and inserting your own choices.

e.g. the colour for body.website_body in global.css for your theme is currently set at #0d1522, and this can be changed to a colour of your choice and it will override the set CSS property. So, for example, find this in your global.css …

Code

body.website_body {
color: #0d1522;
}
… and change it to…

Code

body.website_body {
/*color: #0d1522;*/
color: #FF0000;
}
… which will effectively turn all your dark (nearly black) lettering into RED.

That was an example, and you can find several of these properties grouped together: the helpful way ocPortal does it. If you trawl the various grouped 'sections' you can find reference to all of them. I comment out the original so that it reminds me what the original was when I need to re-visit that particular property.

I note you've dropped the green theme, so if you still have issues please say so here, and I'll try and be of some help …

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Again, thanks Fletch. We did drop the green theme. Went to a different shade of blue from the default on the welcome/site zone, and changed colors on a couple of the other zones. I have to say that I do like the Theme Wizard for making quick changes like that. Who ever, on the staff, came up with the idea of the Theme Wizard should be congratulated. A very nice touch indeed. I did set up a scratchpad site so we can experiment with different themes without it effecting the live site.  (Should have done that to begin with.) I've taken a good look at the global css file and see what you are refering to. It was confusing at first, but I think I was making it harder on my self than need be. Makes perfect sense when you look at it carefully

temp1024's tute on cloning your live site is an absolute MUST if you're going to 'experiment' with different themes. Find it here …

Give it a run. You won't regret it …
