I have elected to display two 'News' blocks on the front page, one below the other. Unfortunately, both carry the title 'News'.

I want to change the title of the second block to read 'Articles', but don't want the change to affect ALL news blocks. The second block has its source in my 'Personal Blog', and a judicious bit of filtering has allowed me to be selective about the content displayed, AND the linkage to the correct archives.

The attachment explains things more clearly …

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Box title is easy- the block has a title attribute.

Other one, problematic, probably not worth the effort.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Yes, that was what I feared would be the answer. Won't editing the title attribute for the block_main_news change that attribute for all the main_news blocks, which includes blogs?

I'll forget about the second one!

Well it's a block parameter, like [block title="..." ... so it'll only affect that instance.

If I was an Aussie I'd respond with something like, "Bonza Blue!, but in this instance I think a simple 'THANKS' will suffice.

Site is getting close to 'opening night'. First, a few days R&R in the Algarve …..
