Hi,

Day one of installation after giving up with Joomla due to too many system glitches with conflicting 3rd Party add-ons, so after several hours of hunting for an answer, I still have no joy.

Installed an rss feed in panel_right and it is showing up, but I need to expand the number of characters displayed before truncation as I do not get enough of the title being displayed with only 26 characters showing.

Look for '30' and raise in the BLOCK_SIDE_RSS_SUMMARY template.

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Great!

Works a treat now. I'll investigate that template a little more as the feed that I am adding has images embedded in the item:description which it would be nice to show.

You want main_rss. It can still show on a panel if you want, but it accesses more from the feeds.

When I was researching CMS software, I loked again at Drupal and Joomla. Both had issues right out-of-the-box compared to ocPortal which didn't "break" until I started mucking around a bit.

I do think that ocP is on the right track even if I don't fully agree with some implementation details.

Okay, so I changed the block to main_rss, but then had to change the margin right settings as 130 was too high for there.

Tried to be 'clever' by adding some php in the template, but found that this wasn't allowed until activating allow_php_in_templates, but despite making the setting in occle, it did not seem to be recognised.

I guess that I'll build a custom block which I can tinker with without affecting how the news is displayed.

One thing that I have found that is a little annoying is that using the Zone Editor on the page I cannot find any way to save the changes, so have to keep going to 'full page editor'.

Other than that, everything seems to be going quite well so far.

Probably just needs the template cache emptying.

Scroll right to the bottom to find the button.

Hadn't thought about the cacheing issue - Will check this out

Found the Save - Thanks.
I was looking for it at the bottom of the zone rather than the bottom of the page.
