This is a good looking theme hali!
Hope you succeed at porting it to ocPortal.

You can edit the blocks on the front page by clicking on the "edit this page" button: (see attached image)

A suggestion would be to use <id style> containers to wrap around the blocks to control their dimensions and style. You can accomplish this easily by disabling the WYSIWYG editing and adding the css styles within this comcode:

Code

[semihtml][/semihtml]
This will allow you to exercise some artistic control over their appearances with minimum fuss.

Any info on why Jooma's is better would be interesting. We're always looking hard for ways we can make themeing easier.

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Specifically though? Is it better tools, fewer templates, more templates, better template language, better documentation? I need to know what to focus plans on ;).

i'm sorry for not being specific..here is what i meen:

in ocPortal you have a lot of templates to edit if you want something cool…..

in joomla you can spesify modul places like if you want to add a separat place for IOTD in the sidebar you can do something like:

<?php if($this->countModules('IOTD')) : ?>
<div id="LeftIOTD">
<jdoc:include type="modules" name="IOTD" />
</div>
<?php endif; ?>
…..test joomla templating system……i hope you dont think i'm a bad person for criticising..
and for the language system the best i seen so far was in jcow…the program lists all the words and you can change and save live…..sory for the bad english…

No problem. That's possible in ocPortal, it's just done in Comcode rather than templates. Click the 'Zone Editor' link under the panel. You can also do it in templates if you really want to, but it's harder.
For language editing, you'll find an option in the footer to translate phrases on the page you're on.

Should be documented in the galleries tutorial or the advanced galleries tutorial, can't remember which off-hand.

I don't think that there's a direct feature that can do that. I'm sure you could achieve it via template changes but it's too much for me to get into here I'm afraid.
