CSS help here

Greetings,

I am trying to use an image as a border for around my global middle. I have used the following to no avail…

Code

border-image: url('{$IMG;,7839039-origpic-4ab1f1}');

Any idea on how to get this to work, or if it is even possible in ocPortal?

Thanks in advance!

It is possible. I have not yet done it myself but I want to try it out too.

Here is a little info on it CSS3 border-image property

And as well scope out ocPortal's website with firebug. The border around global middle here is an image.

Assuming the theme image code you used there is real (you can check it resolved to a real URL in the output), a possibility is if browsers don't support this yet without vendor prefixes, i.e. -moz-border-image etc. (never used it myself yet)

Safari doesn't properly render it yet either.

Ah, the whole "This browser laughs a that" issue eh.

I am primarily using firefox at the moment and suspect that i'd need to use the -moz tag. But then, what if a user visits the site with Opera, rekonq, konqueror, IE, iphone, android, etc… I'd hate that only my firefox users could see the nice steampunk-inspired border in place…  So perhaps I should forgo such an idea in my new theme.

WHOA!

-moz-border-image:
-webkit-border-image:
-o-border-image:
border-image:

Those prefixes should give you your cross-browser display.

Unless somebody can tell me different?

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Somehow it didn't work. I am likely doing something wrong, and in time surely I'll figure out what. Maybe this doesn't work so well around globle_middle for example…

I may revisit this to see of I can't get it working later when more time presents itself.
