I was testing the new theme I made and uploaded it from the test site to ocpower and found no matter what I do its not using the images from the new theme.
Its using them from the old.
I have had to rename every image from the image custom folder to what they should be called and put them in the image folder but thats a lot of work trying to figure out what the real name should be.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Did you package the theme up properly and install it on ocPower that way, or did you just copy the files?

If you set the new skin as your sites skin isn't there an export option for it? Might that be what Philip is talking about?

Themes can be exported as a type of addon. However, the problem here is that image mappings aren't a part of the theme itself, so wouldn't be exported/imported. Unfortunately there's currently no way around that other than doing the renaming by hand – we'll have to do something about this because it is an oversight on our part.

its no problem but would make things much easier for skin development sites like mine.
It will just take longer for each skin I make to come out for now so I hope people can wait.

O wait I found it, its in a strange place called add on, thats the last place I would have even thought of looking but I clicked on every other icon in the admin zone and it was not under where it should be, which is styles.
I hope version 4 has the theme export under styles to make things easier for noobs and I am not even a noob been using this for over 6 months.

This problem is turning into a pain. In order for the skin to work when it is extracted I have to make all images not work on the site it is being developed on.
Basically what I am doing is taking all the images from the costum image and moving them after renaming them into the image folder, in thier correct folder.
Then Deleteing them from the custome, which breaks it on the development site but will still work when its extracted.
main reason I am deleting them is the file is large and I noticed the larger it is the longer it takes to install.

I'm currently implementing 4 usability changes for the next patch release:
  • When addons are exported, the images_custom database mapping data will be included within the addon (those using an older ocPortal version will need to manually run a PHP file to activate it, but for others it will be automatic)
  • The Theme Wizard will use the 'images' folder rather than the 'images_custom' folder, to make it easier to tell which images to edit
  • When an addon is created, it'll give a download option
  • There will be links to the addon functionality from within the Theme Management screen.

THe images do work now but the last thing on the list has not been done. How ever I will make an add one for it unless you do it first. Its going to take me a while as I have no idea what files to edit.
