I am working on a new site (far from finished) and having a hard time figuring out why the dropdowns show up so far bellow the menu in my theme?

Easier to show than try to explain, please have a look http://yattics.ca/pg/start

It seems to be the fixed positioning of global_zones. I don't think the default dropdown menu's CSS can work with this. I tried turning it off in Chrome's developer tools, but then the submenu got cut off.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks for having a look Chris.

When I get it figured out I will share how I did it.

I had a similar problem centering my logo. The problem, from memory, was due to the inheritance from float_surrounder.

"text-align: center" in .global_top did not fix my problem, I ended using <center><h1>…</h1></center> in my header, and the following in my global.css:

Code

.global_top .logo {

   position: relative;
   margin: 0 auto 0 auto;
   background-image: url('{$IMG,logo}');
   background-color: transparent;
}

Can't remember if I made any other changes though, and I don't have time to try and track it down.
