ocPortal version of Dark Ritual theme

Hello,

I had this sitting in the closet for a few months. I finally got around to updating it to the latest ocPortal release (5.0.3) and I suppose some day I will have to update it for 5.1. But this is relatively easy since ocPortal is awesome and tells me which files I have to edit and even updates some automatically itself.

But here it is for now. I was going to release it in the themes section but it probably requires some testing and whatnot first.

I ported this to ocPortal from the Dark Ritual theme found on OSWD.org. The original theme can be found here: Open Source Web Design - Preview - Dark Ritual

Now, lets see if I even exported this thing properly. Who will be the first to test?

Adding a link since I couldn't attach it.

Ok here it is: Joomla! Downloads - ocPortal themes - Dark Ritual

Just by looking at the previews for both… I think you did a good job!

Hopefully someone (I would, but I don't have the time) will test it out for you so you can upload it here on the ocPortal theme section. We need more in there…. we're getting quite a few from here uploading to there now… woot woot!

I just want to say Thanks for the theme TY2U!

I've imported and installed it successfully to 5.1 beta1 and will have more time later on this week to use it fully, but it certainly looks good right now.

Great job porting it to ocPortal.
Cheers!

Thanks for checking it out guys. I didn't even try it in 5.1 yet so some things may not be working right. I haven't tried 5.1 yet even. Actually to be honest I don't even have a website setup with ocPortal anywhere yet except on my localhost. I plan to set one up but I have no idea what I want to do with it yet exactly.

Hi TY2U!

I've had a chance to try your theme as you have suggested and came up with a few observations you can see on the attached image.

I hope you will eventually publish this theme as it would make a great addition to the present choices.
Thanks for letting us see it.

Hey,

Thanks for the tips.

Actually I didn't plan the background to be fixed but I could make it like that if it seems better. I don't think the original was like that so I didn't make it like that.

As for the main and right columns, the "invade" is the intended effect. It will auto-collapse into the right column if nothing is there. But for your duplicate content perhaps it is due to the pages I used. I actually had custom comcode pages for panel_left, panel_right and start. So I don't know why your pages are duplicates.

I didn't include these custom comcode pages in the theme export because I thought they might overwrite peoples existing comcode pages or something, but I am not really sure. I think if I wanted to test I would have to set up a second ocPortal install somewhere which I probably should do some place but I just haven't thought of a good site to create yet. But maybe these custom comcode files are necessary so here they are: http://ty2u.com/something/comcode_custom.tar.gz

In my site they are located in /darkritual/pages/custom_comcode/EN/

Or here is a full exported version with fixed background attachment and custom comcode pages:

Perfect!

A backup of my original comcode pages was done by the system before being replaced by yours.
With your original panels' comcode pages it makes it easier to visualize the intended look of the theme.
New blocks were easily added in the correct color scheme. However, adding a block to the right panel still duplicates it in the main panel somehow. It is strange, since those are two different comcode pages. I've first used the main page editor and side panel and also tried to edit just the right_panel with the comcode page editor with the same results.

Were you also aware you can upload it to the themes section and just continue to edit it with a new upload without having to add a new download? Just make it in versions so and in additional comments, you could leave notes that it's been upgraded. Just an idea for you.

Yes, I just had to finish making it work properly before sending it in there. Thanks to Jean I think I can stick it in there now. =)

I added it.  Not sure if I did it right or not.  I made it a link to the file on my server so not sure how that will work out.
