Hello did not know where to post this, also googled my problem without succses.

Anyway im working on a new ocportal theme with a dark color.
All is fine untill i was going to post on the forum where the text area is black, this results in non viewable text due to the default text color is black. But when i post it the text will be viewable (white)
Have toggeld ocf.css for a color code even tryed to add one however don't seem to get it right.
Same problem adds when i edit a forum post.

Don't have this problem when i edit a page or similar since i left the cms and admin zone with white bg

With best regards Acc;)

Hi,

Have you tried using the Firebug extension in Firefox? It's 'inspect' tool is excellent for finding out which CSS classes to change.

The answer seems to be to find whatever CSS class first defines a dark background and to place a "color: white" on it too. That will then "cascade" down to everything over that background (unless something else also defines a white text colour, in which case you'd need to remove/tweak that too).

As a side note usually we suggest people should leave the adminzone and cms zone with the default theme but it is up to you.

oh thanks for the replay i will check into it.
Yes i agree i want to leave the admin zone and cms with light colors or as it is. However if i define the color to be white when bg is black wont that change admin and cms colors aswell?

Well i solved it since i made the backgroud black at global.css it also defined the editors bg to black so i simply added a string that defines the color text to white.

For future reference i edited the Global.css

.re_body, #htmlarea {
margin:0;
padding:0 !important;
font-size:0.8em;
background-color: #000000;
font-family:'Verdana', 'Arial', 'Helvetica', sans-serif;
color:#ffffff;
}

The bg for the base backgroud color (default white)
Text to white default (black)
This change did not affect cms and admin zone witch i left as default.

Thanks to Chris for your assistance :P

Yeah, I have to agree with this…I use IE extensively for my own browsing and so I know what my users are seeing, but when it comes to debugging or learning someone else's CSS, Firefox w/Firebug ROCKS.

IE8 has made big strides in the same area though so you won't have to in the future ;).

Chris: The quickreply here isn't working in Firefox, FYI. I can't use "enter," which is pretty weird. I was about to post that I am particularly fond of the style element entitled something along the lines of "blah blah blah iesucks." :-) Hitch

So if I type something in here then tab over and press enter, it won't work? Let me try…

No, you did not misinterpret.  Did you try the "quickreply" then try to enter after the quote?  I can't get this to work (and, lo, I am in Firefox!), either using the straight-up quickreply box OR the More Options reply.  No deposit, no return (sorry, old pop-culture joke).  Seriously, I cannot use the return key. - Hitch

I am on a mac, so that might make a difference. I am doing this with a quote now, but I think it'll work.

Can anybody else confirm this problem? Would you like to do a screencast just in case I have misinterpreted? I notice the tab order is weird (intentionally though - so that quick reply is one tab stop after this text box).

Well, here's a first - it (return key) works fine in IE, but still zippo on FF running FB 1.2.1.   Yeah, give me a minute, I'll go screencast it for you in my other browser. - Hitch

Okay, Chris, here I am trying to use the enter key - just hit enter three times, to no avail. Hitch

Am I to infer that it's working for you, Allen?  I wonder, could it be that I am running Firebug?  I was working on CSS all day, just happened to have it up (ver 1.2.1, I have not moved up to 1.3, too buggy).

Hitch (who is typing this in IE).

I also run Firebug, Firefox 3, on Vista.

Obviously if you hit 'enter' while the focus in in the quick reply box it starts a new line. But if you hit 'tab' once so the focus is on the submit button, then hit enter, it works for me.

Try space instead of enter. That should also work.

Actually, Allen, hitting "enter" in the quick reply box does NOT start a new line, that's the issue.  Nor does it work after I've used the space bar OR typed a bunch of text, as I am doing here in FF.  It's as if the "enter" key simply does not work, under any circumstances or in any place.  Thanks, Hitch

Well, bright note:  today, for whatever reason:

The "enter" key works in FF.  <shrug>.  Sweet mysteries of life, so glad I found you.  :-)

Oh I see. Chris and I thought you meant hitting 'enter' to submit the form. Sorry.

Firefox has been known to do odd things to me, too. I've had times where hitting 'enter' won't work in the address bar. Restarting Firefox always fixes it  - something to try if it happens again.

Okay you two, next time I'm taking the mike off "mute" for the video.  "Enter" to submit the form?   O_o
