Heya sweeties,

me again, I am trying to write my first comcode to make available to others here but I have a bit of a weird problem that I seem unable to resolve, I have added some images to a new folder I have created called bbcodes which resides in the root directory. I am trying to link to images held there via a css definition added to my themes global.css file but no matter how i change the definition I cannot get the images to show.

The call I am using is this:

Code

background-image: url('./bbcodes/ocpframe_8.jpg');background-repeat: no-repeat;

I have tried many versions of that but that is how the code is just now, please can someone save me from this insanity and guide me to the light, please' :)

I really am having one of those days again, it's not working.

I am using this now:

Code

background-image: url('{$BASE_URL}/bbcodes/ocpframe_1.jpg');background-repeat: no-repeat;

Is that how it should be?

Looks right to me. I'd play with your browsers developer tools to check the background is being applied (i.e. inspect the element it is placed on). Then I'd look at the URL shown, open it in a new browser tab, and see what happens.

It's having none of it, I've got a headache from trying and trying for too long so I am going to leave this for a time and come back to it another day.

We all make lots of mistakes all the time. With modern tools like the browser developer tools it is easier than ever to trace through what is going on step-by-step and find those errors. So with patience and time you'll find your mistakes faster, like I do mine.

Is this a Custom Comcode tag you mean?

Regardless, whatever you think makes most sense really :).

Yes, it creates a graphical frame for users to add text inside, it scales in height to accomodate small or large text inputs, it looks like the image above, I will make variants of the images, depending on what people ask for.
I rather thought it could go into New Features but it does seem maybe it's not entirely suited there!

I got the idea from an old phpbb bbcode, it was a fixed dimension scroll thing but it was coded badly, adding styles to the html rather than using css calls. I tried my hand at making my own version of it and ended up making dozens of different versions, I still have a few on my pc, I'll tidy them up for OCPortal and submit them when time permits. :)

Thank you Petrikuhr for this beautiful design, you really Rock! :guitar:

I've installed it on my site and it works perfectly. I took the liberty however to scale it down to fit my Front page News space. For expediency, I did cut it off by half which is probably a bit too much, but I'll work on a slightly bigger edition when I find the time.

See it here: A State of Mind - Web 2.0

Meanwhile, thanks for your contribution. I am sure my students will go wild with this.
