This Should work but isn't help please

Hi all,

The following code isn't working for me, please tell me why if you can? Its to go in the the Poll question which accepts comcode.

Code

[img align="centre"]http://www.randomas.com/images/Eskypoll.gif[/img]
Also how do I get the text to drop under the picture with comcode. I have cheated for the time being by add the text to the gif.

UPDATE: I added to the poll.css under poll question "text-align: center" and it worked. must be a first for me here, lol.

Thanks

OZ

Terrific display. Spent more time on the site than I intended. I guess that's a measure of how well the site is presented. Also, the content was of interest to me!

One 'recommendation' from a fan: have you considered displaying your Gallery using Thickbox?

Keep the barrels rolling!

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Hey aldun,

I'm not sure which JavaScript you're referring to, 'Thickbox' or something else?

Let me know.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Two part answer. The first part you may already know about, but I'll mention it in case you haven't yet realised that it matters!

1. Edit the Thickbox CSS or it will conflict with ocPortal and your displays will break in both:

Code

/* ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*/
/* ---------->>> global settings needed for thickbox <<<-----------------------------------------------------------*/
/* ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*/
/* {padding: 0; margin: 0;} */

/* ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*/
In other words, comment out the Thickbox 'global settings'

2. The 'jquery.js' and 'thickbox.js' need to be added to themes/default/templates/HEADER.tpl just before the
tag, like so:

Code

{$SITE_NAME*}{+START,IF_NON_EMPTY,{HEADER_TEXT}} - {HEADER_TEXT*}{+END}

{REFRESH}

{$,Preload all the panels so that the CSS and JS is known for them}
{$SET,panel_top,{$LOAD_PANEL,top}}
{$SET,panel_left,{$LOAD_PANEL,left}}
{$SET,panel_right,{$LOAD_PANEL,right}}

{$CSS_TEMPCODE}

{+START,IF_PASSED,EXTRA_HEAD}
 {EXTRA_HEAD}
{+END}

{$JS_TEMPCODE}

{TOP}

{+START,IF_PASSED,DEFERRED_ERRORS}
{+START,BOX,{!RECOVERABLE_ERRORS}}
{+START,LOOP,DEFERRED_ERRORS}

{loop_var*}

{+END}
{+END}
{+END}

That's about all you need to do, but make sure you have the latest 'js' versions from Cody's site.

Let us know how you get on!

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Hey Fletch, your words motivate me to keep improving on the site, to think I have never had any formal training. I will have to check out the thick box soon.

I just checked your profile and its good to know we attract people out of our expected market age range.
This is the biggest site I have ever built and its not for a customer this time. I was out filming all day today with the crew and its a constant laugh. And to think we are sponsored by our fav beer.

See ya

Even if that wasn't meant as an 'ageist' crack you'll be reassured to know that as you get older you're unlikely to lose your partiality to the amber stuff.

Just an update for fletch, I have thickbox working wonderfully thank you for your help, I have just made a tutorial for my users so they can create there own little galleries on the forum. I think I am going to have to send Cody a donation, this is a great script and very innovative.

Great idea. I may steal it and try and introduce it to my users as well. Must get a look at your 'tute'.

I've even managed to incorporate Thickbox into NEW-Blogger (Wordpress has it as a plugin), and I have a tutorial on my Blogger help site, Terry's Playpen, that explains what needs to be done to make it work.

A few bucks in Cody's direction won't go amiss. Nice to know that this superb free script can be incorporated into an already feature-rich engine like ocPortal.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

You know what would be really nice to use this for?

If I could make an ajax login for ocportal, so instead of having a login page just have the login popup with jquery… I wonder if chris would know how this might work?

It is one of the functions that Thickbox can perform well, BUT, I'm not so sure that it can be incorporated into ocPortal that easily. The login is tied to OCF and I'm not too sure I'd want to attack that area. If you crack it, let us all know - whether or not others find it useful.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

I'm sure you can work out something. It's the interlocking, or marrying it to the other dependencies that would trouble me. My immediate thought about using an iframe is that it would lock-in the login to that frame, so where would you take it from there?

Perhaps Chris or Philip would have some thoughts on this, but I wouldn't ask as it really doesn't fall within the ocPortal parameters.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!
