Follow a simple method to apply dramatic changes to your Theme

Basic Theme Modifications - Part 1

Tutorial Updated to ocPortal version 9
Your website's entire appearance, from its layout, to its images, and color schemes all make up a 'theme'. These themes are completely customizable by you. This tutorial's initial objective is to show a couple of methods to quickly modify the "logo" image. The following modifications do not involve changing any of the XHTML5 (eXtensible HyperText Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).
method 1: Upload a new image directly

Version 9 has a visual aid to guide the admin to the correct interface for many of the graphics on its pages. A link button to the image source will appear while hovering the mouse over the upper left logo.
edit theme image helper
From the 'edit theme image' screen, If you want to edit this image, right click on it and ask your web browser to save it, then blank out the URL field and attach your new copy to the Upload field.

method 2: Use a template to modify the image and then Upload

Alternatively, ocPortal maintains a blank logo template which can be accessed in a similar fashion through your current theme image manager. Using a blank template might be easier to modify in most cases, so here's how:

Home–>Admin Zone–>Style–>Manage themes; choose your current theme and click on Manage theme images, select General, scroll down to logo_template and click to edit.

As mentioned above, right click on it and ask your web browser to save it.

Use your favorite Image editor to compose your own logo.

Repeat the selection process above: Home–>Admin Zone–>Style–>Manage themes; choose your current theme and click on Manage theme images. This time select Logo, click on logo/-logo and upload the new version.

Hi,
Make sure before uploading a picture through the 'browse' field that the existing 'URL' field below it has been cleared. (See image #2).

If this does not help, please include more details of this error and any relevant images leading to the problem.

Thanks,
Jean

where can i find a library of themes.  I'd think there would be hundreds floating about somewhere, but I only find 20 free themes here.  Are there other sites / locations where I can find them?

There are literally thousands of Joomla, etc. themes.  I'm new here, but google isn't finding much.  Thanks

ocPortal isn't currently as well known as Joomla, WordPress, etc. There are plans to release v10 via a rebrand where it will be known as Composr. Hopefully we will see more addons and themes as a result of this.

I think everyone here would like to see more contributed themes and addons, and whilst there have been members who have quite recently stated they are going to work on and release new themes, it hasn't really happened with v9.

With v10 just around the corner, let's hope there is more interest from freelance developers and hobbyists who will get involved in promoting Composr to the lofty heights where it truly belongs by providing additional bells and whistles and themes. It is mainly themes we need, as Composr has most functionality well covered.

It is up to us as a community to promote the software and generate an interest from themers, I am sure many would provide themes if they were aware of the potential.
