Joe was asking me for help with the theming of his site and he wants the banner to be 120 in height and I have been running all kinds of tests to get it to work.
I made other changes to make sure it was not a cacheing issues and all other changes show up. I even flipped the banner and logo positions as a test and they did change positions.
The first thing I did was make the image that goes in the banner height' 120 just so I could see if it changed better.
I then changed the banner_iframe template to

Code

<iframe title="{!BANNER}" frameborder="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" style="width: 936px; height: 120px" scrolling="no" src="{IMG*}">{!BANNER}</iframe>
and saved it.
Refrashed the page and the image was now only showing half of it self but still the same size as it was.
So I then did that flip thing I talked about above just to see if it was a cache issue, they flipped just fine.
so I then deleted all files called banner_iframe except for the one with the above change and it still did not work.
either this is a bug or I am editing the wrong file.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

This is in the CSS:

Code

.global_top {
   background-color: #E3EAF2; /* {$,topcolor, 100% bgcol } */
   background-image: url('{$IMG,zone_gradiant}');
   background-position: bottom left;
   background-repeat: repeat-x;
   height: 89px;
   padding-right: 3px
}

.global_logo {
   position: absolute;
   top: 0px;
   left: 0px
}

.global_zones {
   text-align: right;
   position: relative;
   top: 68px;
   z-index: 10;
   font-weight: bold;
   color: #E7EDF6; /* {$,wizard, 15% zg_top + 85% W/B} */
}

The height and top properties give some layout constraints. I think the banner is bleeding out of the global_top box (which is fixed to 89 height - i.e. it won't stretch automatically), and the stuff underneath that box is overlaying on it, obscuring it.

I already thought of that Chris and I have changed those, I changed those before I posted but forgot to mention it.
I did how ever mention it to joe, well I did not mention what part of the css.
I actually have the top huge do to changing those values. I can show you a screen shot it you wish.

The banner was accidentally disabled on that in my work in trying to fix this problem. How ever the banner did not change size even with it like that.

Finally I got it working.

I changed a file called BANNER_TYPED.tpl

I changed it to this.

Code

<iframe title="{!BANNER}" frameborder="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" style="width: 936px; height: 120px" scrolling="no" src="{$FIND_SCRIPT,banner}?type={TYPE*}&amp;{$KEEP*,0,1}">{!BANNER}</iframe>
And that worked.

Can someone tell me how to apply transparency to the banners? The images themselves have a transparent background, and I've added allowtransparency="true" to all the banner templates, but it's still showing a white background. :/

If we're talking about PNG's with alpha transparency, put in class="blend" (or if there's a class already make it class="blend <existing>".

Actually, with the way I redesigned the entire header, I had to removed the banner system becuase it doesn't look very good with the centered banner and zone links.
