Hiya Chris!

I'm knee deep in writing my "testimonial" on OCP4, and one area I have are some wish list suggestions. One of those items is some different style boxes (a tabbed one for example). It then occurred to me that something like this could be done already using custom comcode (which I will certainly be trying). My question then is: is it possible now, or an easy task for you to add in via admin zone, the ability to export custom comcode into a package or addon? This would allow community members to share their (comcode) customizations with others very easily.

I like that sharing idea.
Just like sharing bbcode on other sites.
The tab idea seems nice too, kind of like the nav links on smf, at least thats what I am seeing in my head.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Hi,

It's not currently possible but thanks and we'll consider the suggestion. For the time being it shouldn't be too hard to just copy and paste the form field values from the edit screen of the tag into a text file along with some instructions.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

That works for me its not to much different then what people did for ipb before they made xml files for bbcode export and import.
