This is a new Theme for ocPortal 6.0 final![]()
Modern families have both, immediate and wider family members living abroad or far from their original place of birth. A Family site can act as a useful meeting place for all and enable collaborative interaction to trace their history together. This theme is based on a free HTML template by Dieter Schneider. His design is somewhat narrow to make it viable for a Content Management System, so I've modified the graphics to frame a typical fixed-width of 980px, while adding space for the dynamic wing-type side panels for a total of 1310px, capable of accommodating any type of CMS configuration. I replaced some of the darker elements to suit a different purpose with lighter and brighter ones. The static side panel menu which could only accommodate a few blocks before it overflowed was replaced with dynamic side panels expanding as needed vertically. I like the overall look of Mr. Schneider's static design and decided to find it a home with ocPortal with some adaptation of my own. Some CSS skill and Photoshop experience is required if you want to do changes to it. If you like it as it is but want your own header, you will need to edit 'header.jpg' or use the 'Manage Theme Images' interface to replace the image with the codename 'header'. I must give credit to Chris Graham and his team for giving us the best tool to design such a theme with this final version 6 of ocPortal and for the many formidable tutorials and especially the detailed videos which were so usefull to extract the code from a static HTML template to the dynamic pages of ocPortal. Thanks! Hoping you will find this theme useful for many site ideas. This theme should be available soon from the addon section: Jean |
