The World of Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Creatures

Just after midnight yesterday I finally opened my redesigned website, Prehistorics Illustrated to the public. Please come on in and look around. I am happy with the look and layout but I believe it is going to change over the months because their is always a 'better' way.

This is my phase I, which was to get all the artists galleries back up and running.

Phase II is to get the artists bio pages put together and accessible. I don't think this will take long. Next intend to launch into phase III which is more intense and includes galleries of the beasts in the artists galleries but categorized into sorts of alike creatures. Phase IV will be to add the creature info describing their physical properties and the environment in which they lived.

Very important for me to say that there would be no new Prehistorics Illustrated ocPortal website up and running today had it not been for the help of so many people in the generous ocPortal community. I am deeply indebted and thankful to Chris Graham for all his direction and clever solutions as well as the creation of the ocPortal framework itself.

Also, in no particular order, I must include thanks to the following; Many for direct intervention in my crisis moments when they actually responded to my topic questions and solved problems and to others, who became vital in the site's development because of their historical posts where many of my problems had been solved before I ever became a ocPortal fan. So without further ado...

Your site is the culmination of an incredible amount of work and dedication.
It is nicely presented and informative.
It will be a great place to hang on and meet some of our ancestors.

You have a very nice looking site. I too am very interested in paleontology and I used to run a forum called prehistoriclife.net. The original host went down and I had to find a new host for it. Since I rebuilt the site on the new server the users fell off dramatically. The site is still up but I may be taking it down soon.

I'm sure your site will do well.

Congrats!

I like both of these sites discussed here.  I've always been fascinated by paleontology myself(who doesn't like mastodons and dinosaurs?).   They actually both remind me of the car site I am working on, they are very similar in their study/encyclopedic approach to classifying and categorizing the information and pictures.

Great job on the theme work, friendly, and Columbo, I am familiar with setting up and organizing a forum like your prehistoric site.  Lots of credit to you for your layout there.  I visited your ham radio site today after reading about it in another thread, and ended up adding a globe-type visitor map to my site as well.

Thank you kindly, I really appreciate your comments.

The website project you are putting together in ocPortal sounds fantastic and I anticipate a lot of time and sweat on your part to make it happen in the way you describe. I think your choice of ocPortal as the 'vehicle' to get you there is right on. I look forward to seeing it come together and go live! It will become one of those websites that the future users of ocPortal will look at and get a glimpse of its power and be inspired to create their own dream site with it too.

All the best to you Route 66 Rambler, keep us in the loop!
