(Example post- site name in the title, a description of the site in the main post)

This is an ocPortal-powered website ocProducts made, to promote and distribute ocPortal, documentation, and addons, to provide a community for ocPortal users, and to help us deliver our commercial support and services.

The site was designed in Photoshop, and before implementation went through a lot of discussion to perfect the communication, layout, and usability. One design goal was to make the site as simple as possible – we have a lot to communicate, to many types of user, but we did not want users to have to navigate a complex sprawling site. To achieve this goal we used various UI and communication techniques to say more in less space and so people would not need to read stuff they did not need to read.

The site has a very simple custom theme we put together, and we achieved our careful styling by using a lot of page-specific CSS and XHTML. We used a panel_top for our main menu.

Check it out… oh… wait, you're here already ;).

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about Composr whenever you see the opportunity or support me on Patreon.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
