Green is my favorite color too!

I will for sure bookmark this site and most likely even register at a later time (ok, I'll do it after this post). I own a few systems and tend to play my  Nintendo DS @ work during my break time!

Clean-cut and nice design!

I just happened to be checking your forums and noticed this at the bottom:

Usergroups: (Secret usergroup #2)

Not a secret anymore! roflmao!!! Not sure if that's what it's suppose to display when "admin" is logged in.

Thank for joining Eric. Come for ocPortal, stay for the content   , that's what I like to see. Enjoy the site!

Ok I now see "Usergroups: (Secret usergroup #2)" when I log in as a user on my test site (I don't have any test members on the live site). And when I'm logged in as admin I see Administrators group.

Chris has made a few changes to make hidden usergroups not clickable,  and only display "unknown", but it looks like a couple of places were missed.
1 - the member list at the bottom of the forum (the one you found), and
2 - the tooltip over the avatar in the forum post.

I can't find the topic I started for it at the moment, but I'm sure Chris will know what I mean when he reads this post  :P .

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

This is a great looking game site, temp1024!

The green environment gave me the impression of having entered in a parallel dimension where gamers rule.
Congrats for pulling all this together and I’m looking forward to visit and enjoy your special universe for enthusiastic gamers.

Good to see ocPortal being used for such a project.

Thanks for the great compliments Jean, both here on my site   .

Interesting observation about the parallel dimension. The green and amber colours were chosen because they were the dominant colours used in old style monochrome monitors of long ago. So you were spot on with my aim.

It was actually born from your portal conflict theme which I used as a base to iron out the issues with Flash and page loads.

I wish I could take credit for that house and the collection, but that belongs to my friend 'JOP'.

Hey temp1024, I like it! Nice job, good look, colors and icons. Darn, nice job at it and at first It doesn't hit me as and ocP site with different colors. Themeing job was well done.

Can't wait to see you next ocP site!

Thanks friendly.

I'm glad it didn't hit you as ocPortal straight away. Its hard when you use standard building blocks like the side panels, but I think the relatively subtle colour differences between the body and the sides is a big contributor.

Trust me, you probably won't care about my next ocPortal site.

I really only have one or two more sits planned, and they will be just standard theme wizard jobs, nothing fancy.

Any cool features will be reserved for this Last Gamer site.

I thought I'd showered you with many compliments and good karma. But I obviously didn't!

Must have been Jean's comment about wanting to live in your house for a while that distracted me.

So, let me belatedly congratulate you on a first-class theme, and for pulling it all together the way you've done.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

I bow before you and your show of skill at making that site! It reminds me of the good ole days, you know, back in the NEW and SNES, Atari, Sega Gensis, and all the excitement we felt at the idea of future systems (but IMO let down when game play focused away from fun factor and towards eye candy).

It also of course reminds me of the days when I started working on computers, and of my old 386. Ah good times.

I may have to hit you up on that whole title scrolling with the page bit… I like it. I just have to determine if it fits my design goals or not first lol.

Thanks mythus. It is a nostalgia site so it looks like doing its job well  .

The biggest influence was my strongest memories, those of using green screen Apple II's.

The title actually doesn't scroll with the page, but I know what you mean ;) . I have done a few non-standard things with the site, so feel free to ask about any part of the site that interests you.
