A Merry Christmas to All!

Several years ago, a group of Russian designers created an incredibly detailed animation with the first edition of Macromedia Flash; it fired my imagination and my love for this medium. One of my projects was to transform it into a personal and vibrant Christmas card. Today, I'm attempting to integrate my flash rendition with an ocPortal website for a festive turn of the century look.

I have tried to accommodate those without an Adobe Flash Player by allowing the Safari browser to render a still image of the movie. However, the point of this presentation would be completely missed by not being able to enjoy it fully the way I meant it to be; viewed through the Firefox browser with Adobe flash player. I've tested its appearance with IE8, which seems to reproduce it somewhat faithfully, but not quite, and somehow Google Chrome thinks it is Safari and does not show the flash animation.

I also wanted to demonstrate that a complex site such as ocPortal could be molded to anyone's imagination with just a few brush strokes and a sprinkle of changes to the cascading style sheets. For those objecting to long waits due to web traffic or slow servers while the flash player loads the presentation, this design actually gives an added bonus (unfortunately missed by faster systems) in the guise of an old gramophone rendition of a song helping to set the mood and adding to the anticipation of a joyous moment.
