Themes 201: brand-new themes» Watch tutorial With this tutorial we have released a new minimal theme called "ocPortal reset", which makes it easier to implement new themes. This theme is used in the tutorial as a base, and is available from the "import addon" screen inside ocPortal. The tutorial doesn't try to teach XHTML or CSS, but instead how to take prebuilt XHTML and CSS and put it into ocPortal. Many will want to study the code Allen wrote to make the original standalone design work: If I answered something that you think should be in the documentation, please take the initiative and add it to the community documentation. We really need people to help out here and build a well-organised large support resource. |

A foxy Geography teacher (I was totally in love with her - doesn't apply here!) once marked me 21/20 on an assignment, with the added comment "I would not presume to comment on such excellence!" I've always treasured it, but I think it is time to hand it on. It's all yours … |

Once again, this video is totally awesome !! This is a wonderful way to showcase the significance of Zones in oc.Portal and demonstrate how, with a few "near-easy" processes it is possible to extend an existing website with creative and artistic material without losing what makes oc.Portal so great: A seamless integration of Contents. Many thanks for the great tutorial. |

Just want to add my thanks for this video. Even tho I am themeing 4.2, this helps a lot. Some of the coding is different but I know what to look for. |

Using something like jQuery in ocPortal is no different really to using it anywhere else. ocPortal templates and CSS incorporate all the normal web technology. However we have a designer themes tutorial that addresses any particular issues a designer needs to be aware of. If I answered something that you think should be in the documentation, please take the initiative and add it to the community documentation. We really need people to help out here and build a well-organised large support resource. |

The reset theme is just one approach, the one in this particular tutorial. There are various approaches discussed in various tutorials (reset theme, theme wizard, stripping down the default theme yourself, making changes gradually in situe, possibly others). If I answered something that you think should be in the documentation, please take the initiative and add it to the community documentation. We really need people to help out here and build a well-organised large support resource. |
