Hi,

We maintain this:
Download: ocPortal product-integration archive - ocPortal.com

It's designed for these kinds of integrations (we use it with Installatron for example), but each control panel needs some custom code written to work with it.

It contains install.sql and info.php.template. Install.sql needs importing into MySQL on the server and info.php.template needs filling in and renaming to info.php.

Hey everyone, figured I would make an appearance. It has been to long  :$

I have not been very active in the forums recently but I have been very active around the internet spreading the word.

For a while I was starting to wonder if I was doing any good but in recent weeks I have seen many familiar names signing up here. And I am sure that for every one that signs up in the forums there are likely a few more that just quietly download and get to work on their new ocPortal site. I am real happy to see that.

Hope life is treating you all well :) Life is good here.

Hello Brian,

I’ve seen some of your work, spreading the good word about ocPortal.
I’ll join you on this quest, as soon as I can get a break from my daily grind.

Good to see you!:)

Right on Jean,

I have found a few good communities that I enjoy and get a lot out of in the process. So far it has been a good experience, looking forward to seeing you out there.

Just thought I'd give this a bump and remind people that there are many options to support and spread the word on ocPortal.

This is a good place to start when considering what contributions(s) you might be able to make: How to help out

By the way, there's a community project starting up called OpenHatch which tries to gather more contributors for free/open source software. It's pretty cool as, for example, you can say what skills you have and get a personalised RSS feeds of bugs you might like to fix :)
I've made an ocPortal page on there, and added our bug tracker to their queue for crawling. It's just me associated with the project so far, but to be honest most of the projects listed on the site show up as one person at the moment.

I finally joined you over at Ohloh, that is a really cool site.

I added a couple of the widgets to my FAQ about why I only use ocPortal for my websites. I really like them except for links in them do not open in a new windows.

Joined up at Ohloh today and left a review for ocPortal.

I may not have the budget right now to support ocPortal the way I would like but I can certainly take a few minutes to spread the word.

I'll check out OpenHatch tomorrow.

Just set up my own community, very happy with the customizing options.

Very limited knowledge so if I can use it anyone is able to set ocPortal up.

Thanks team…

No need to answer, Brian. He has made up his mind and any attempt at further discussion would just devolve into a battle of coding practices.

I suspect that there is some kernel of truth to what he says but you can tell from the tracker that Chris and crew are working to streamline the code.

My advice: let it go.

True enough Bob, wise advice and I should probably consider the source too eh.

He is trying to develop his own software and did his very best in another thread (the one he quoted from) to discredit ocPortal and actually got a few others trying along with him. In the end they all just helped show how great ocPortal is and sent a few more sign ups over here. lol

So now he is trying a different approach.

True, I made my mind on this software. And true, coding practices make good fuel for arguments :)

@BrianHay: I am not really trying different approach. In fact I dont really care about this software. If its users are happy with it, its okay.

What *irks* me is how you try to present ocPortal as best solution to every problem and in every class and push into discussion where it makes no sense then argue it really does. I even remember you bring ocPortal up in discussion about improving phpBB3 security. Seriously?

I understand that somebody may like something, but you are being overzelaous. Let people criticise and leave software defense to its quality. If something is really bad, it would not be used by anybody. Fact that ocPortal has userbase means its bad software. But it doenst mean it will please everybody out there… if that was the case it would be ONLY software of its kind available today.

It happens I am working as php programmer in interactive agency, so I develop and deploy software on regular basis. Please dont associate fact that I am working on my own forum software with reason behind my stance towards ocPortal. What you are implying is insulting as I in no way perceive ocPortal as direct threat to my software. There are millions of people looking for solution for their forum, assuming that one software can dominate such wide and different market is wrong.

Excellent! Good to see you Raf!

Every post I have made there has been relevant. In the short time I have been active there I have received 10 karma comments for my posts and the majority of those are from staff.

It may seem that way but that is likely because a lot of my posts are in topics where people are asking for software suggestions for a project they want to do. I of course reply and suggest ocPortal if it is a project I think it is suited for.

Just today I answered someone here and told them that ocPortal is probably not the best software for what they wanted to do.

I don't try to claim it is the answer for everything….but it does do a LOT. So when people are asking for software suggestions there are not many projects I would not recommend it for.

Brian-

More importantly, Chris, himself, has pointed out that ocPortal is not the right choice for every project. But you are correct that it does offer quite a lot of functionality rolled up into one tidy package.

Rafio seems to want to argue about code so I will let him do so with others more qualified than me. On the other hand, most project managers just want a tool to get their project completed. Few are interested in arguing about code purity.

Argue on about code... humm, nope. ocPortal fails to meet my expetations towards codebase quality of software I use... and thats it. You cant please anybody and its not really something worth argument.

Then you have no reason to be here unless your actual intent is just trolling.

You don't like the ocPortal (edited for clarity) - we get it. Time for you to move on.
