Hey everyone. I am Ryan and my site is Men of Jesus. It is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. I am new to Web design so I am pretty much clueless. Can anyone point me to a webite using OC Portal to it's fullest capabilities?

Welcome aboard Ryan.

I am using ocPortal more or less as it comes 'out of the box', but with a few sneaky little twists. Click on my signature to take you there …

There are a few other good examples, but I'll leave you to look up their URL's:

  • Amichan
  • Joe
  • Harry
  • PoliticalVoice

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Thanks Fletch. Can you point me in the right direction to adding a directory like you have on your site?

Sure.

Go to 'Admin' or 'Content Management', select 'Catalogues' and you are offered several choices. In your case you will need to 'Add catalogue category'.

The building of the catalogue is pretty intuitive and the various building blocks have explanatory notes that you can follow.

However, from experience, the excitement of actually building the catalogue often overtakes the common-sense approach of PLANNING the actual directory or whatever it is you want to display. So, my advice is to get the tried-and-trusted pencil and paper and map out what you want, first. Or you'll be re-visiting the 'catalogue' to insert or delete things several times!

Good luck.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!
