Just to say Hi to everyone here ;-)

I have tried many apps to get what I need and this seems to be the best so far……………

Having a few issues just now but reading the tuts and the docs so hopefully will have it sorted soon.

If not, I'll be back

Hello and welcome.
Hope you find what you need in the tuts. I myself find them useless, They just tell me about each feature not how to use it.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Non-joined user

cheers

thankyou for your welcome.

Firstly I have registered but not received my email yet, hope this isn't a sign …………

I have read many of your posts which have been very informative :-)

I am trying to figure out what does what on this system, having just done the same with dolphin and several others, most bits seem similar in their actions but this one does have its quirks ;-)

My particular requirement is as follows and if you are able to throw some light on how it may be accomplished it would be greatfully appreciated.

I am trying to update and migrate an existing website in ASP and access, to php and mysql which has some 1500+ members.

I would like any site visitor to be able to view limited items on display. Then in order to view the rest they have to register and pay.

Upon success they can then have their own profile with their own gallery, blogs etc which are all accessable to other members, but only a sample of their gallery to non members on the front page.

Hope that makes sense, if its not doable with ocportal, please tell me now so that I dont trash another week of playing with bits only to find I can't do it.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers

It is a good system if not a great one.
I actually have 3 installs connected to one forum and no other system that I know of does that.

That's all possible, with the exception of sample previews. There's a "main_gallery_tease" block, but that shows one image for each gallery, rather than a selection.
Still, it'd be a relatively simple addon.

Hi Chris
Thank you for your reply.
My idea is to have a link on the front page of the site which would lead to a main gallery page which could show the galleries of all my categories members.

You say that its all possible bar the samples, I can live with that.
Can you point me in the direction of where to find info on setting up the paid registration methods.
Also setting up my user group levels, I would like a regular member and existing member and of course the non member visitor. (can I delete the current ones?)

Many thanks again, it looks like I shall be purchasing this very soon ;-)

There's a bit about this in our eCommerce tutorial. But basically you make usergroups, set permissions for all the usergroups, and then go to setup eCommerce subscriptions for the usergroups that are pay-only. You need to setup PayPal and link to it from your configuration (the eCommerce section if I remember correctly). For people to subscribe to the usergroups they'll need to go to the site:purchase module. You can add this using the menu editor.

can I delete the current ones?

Most of them. I think it's just the Guest, Newbie, and Administrator ones that may not be deleted.

 Hi Chris
Thankyou for your prompt reply, nice one…

I have managed to sort the gallery issue to a point, but have found that within admin there are discrepancies for the add image and edit gallery functions. Edit shows just the two galleries whereas add image shows many many galleries in which to add an image, quite confusing.
I have reset all the priveledges that I can find and all seems to be ok now.
It will be interesting after deleting all bar the guest and two other usergroups, what works and what doesnt the next time I join a member…..

Will keep you posted ;-)

BTW this is a complete rewrite of my post as the previous security image was too small to read that when I submitted it incorrectly it sent me back to a blank page !!! DOH !
Can anything be done with the size of the displayed graphics?

This is how it should be actually. The extra galleries on the add screen don't exist yet, but may be autocreated when you add to them. They're the member galleries under your member gallery container. However, you can't edit them because they don't exist, and thus they don't show on the edit gallery list.

I've looked at the security image and have increased the font size to the highest. It'll be upgraded on the next patch release and when I update this site.
