An introduction and quick question

Hello everyone.  I just found about ocP not too long ago, and am incredibly impressed.  So far I've only run into one small problem, and I'm sure it's something small and stupid (I'm more than likely overthinking it).  I've created a custom favicon, and uploaded it to my sites root (favicon.ico is the filename, obviously), but I can't figure out what ocP does to make it maintain the blue c, instead of allowing the server to read what it's supposed to.  Anyone able to help me here?

Hi Josh,

If you go to your adminzone>style>themes>manage theme images and upload your favicon there it should work for you.

Brian is an old hand at this and it wouldn't hurt to follow his advice!

But to expand a little:
  • The 'favicon' is happily lodged in your themes folder under default/images
  • This can be tracked down by looking in HEADER.tpl where it says
   <link rel="icon" href="{$IMG*,favicon}" type="image/x-icon" />
   <link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="{$IMG*,appleicon}" />
  • If you've had success by lodging it in the root of your site in the past, and you don't want to change your habits (hey, this is ocPortal, and you ought to change your thinking to 'lateral') then change the code in HEADER.tpl to

Code

   <link rel="icon" href="{$BASE_URL}/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
   <link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="{$BASE_URL}/appleicon.png" />
Hope that made sense …

 :thumbs:

P.S. Sorry for my rudeness in not welcoming you to the site. Enjoy your experience with ocPortal and your visits to the forums.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!
