PURZOOT - A real-time action network community for all who want to compete in life!

Hi all,

Just a quick intro, I'm Daniel, originally from Vancouver, Canada and been living in Dubai, UAE for the past 7 yrs now. I've been working on community sites for 3 yrs and been in the IT and/or computing area since 1980.

My must current project is Purzoot.com - facebook.com/PURZOOT which is just at the Alpha stage and running tease marketing campaigns, etc.  This is the one god willing I can make ocPortal work for me.

I also, run a original online mastermind groups site that runs on Boonex Dolphin 7, called imindlive.com.
  1. First reason was to hello and make an intro.
  2. My second, reason for stopping by the forum today was I have a little Twitter plugin problem. I've added it and received the API keys etc, but in Admin when I go to config it I get php errors.  Any ideas?
All the best regards, Daniel

Hi there :)

when I go to config it I get php errors.  Any ideas?

Specifically?

Become a fan of ocPortal on Facebook or add me as a friend. Add me on on Twitter.
Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

The Twitter class we use (not our own code) seems to be getting a lump of XML back from Twitter, instead of the response it expects.
I have added some debug code to this version of the file, that should show exactly what is returned from Twitter, which may give a clue.

Twitter integration is testing okay from my own machine.

I replace the file to your custom twitter file and this is what it returned.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <hash> <error>Desktop applications only support the oauth_callback value 'oob'</error> <request>/oauth/request_token</request> </hash>

Wonder if this helps? Thanks Dan

Did you fill in the 'Callback URL' in the Twitter app? (i.e. on dev.twitter.com, where you set that up)

I believe I did do it, but I'll recheck - and what should the URL be again just to confirm?

Welcome to our community, Daniel!

Purzoot.com has an impressive presentation. Love the logo.

I have yet to figure out what it's all about. Not sure  what the subject is and why the aggressive hints, but it looks like it promotes youth and energy. I'm looking forward to discover more.

Hello Jean,

Thanks for the very nice words about Purzoot.com…yes, I'm being a bit of a tease at the moment about the sites main concept, as to what it is going to do, etc.

To be honest, I'm only in Alpha right now and ocPortal is new to me - I do want to allow some early adopters in on the secret, just not at this time.  All I can say is we're talking a network taking it to the next level, something completely new where users take control of online time, in an exciting way that is personal to each user. I know this will not clear up much of what the site is going to be doing, you might think of it as a place where users get something in return (an ROI if you please) for their time on the net, where their content has meaning and a purpose that they are passionate about! O_o

Thanks again for comments, you did read the feel that I'm going for ie; youth & energy, you can add passionate & personal, too for all ages as well!

I have a question for you, your thoughts on ocPortal - do you feel it is a product I can take to the very limits of CRM's and social networks, twist it to the bleeding edge, fully customize as I feel fit and strong enough to last past web 2.0 into 3.0 for example?

Cheers, stay in touch and soon you will learn more about my Purzoot project.

Welcome Daniel to the community. Fellow Canuck here (Toronto)!

While I am sure Jean will answer your question to him as well I thought I'd also add my perspective.

My personal belief is that (in the open source market at least) ocPortal can't be beat as a CMS. While it it might not be quite geared as a CRM sollution at this time it certainly has the foundations for which a great one could rise. For social networking itself I think it has an even better foundation so I think in your case it will definitely be worth the learning curve to using it.

I think you'll find it can tweaked and molded to do just about anything you want (of course once you understand clearly how it works)  with very little effort.

I wish you much success in your new endeavor and hope ocPortal works well for you.

Cheers!
