I suppose I should introduce myself now that I've started posting here. I've been online since 1990 in one form or another - usually under the alias of Tenebrae. Tepetkhet is my new "alias" from my first character in the online MMORPG (game) World of Warcraft. I used to hand-write very basic HTML for the websites I have. When I started running a guild in WoW, I used e107 as the CMS because it was what the previous guild I'd been in used and it sure seemed easier than trying to build a community site. There were all these "guild in a box" sites out there like guildzilla and guildlaunch, but they were so cookie cutter and didn't really allow for much customization. Still, I put a lot of work into the visual customizations of my guild's website and you can still see it here: Void if Removed: News e107 as a project is all but dead, so for my next guild website, I started looking at other CMSs. I love how ocPortal is put together and includes almost everything a community gaming site needs out of the box, but I wish there were nicer themes - I don't relish putting a lot of work into the graphics like I did for the other site, no matter how proud I am of the results. In spite of having a background of hand-writing some HTML, debugging XML files for work, and studying programming, I still do not consider myself a programmer. I'm pretty good at recognizing code and debugging it, but I'm lousy at actually creating it from scratch. My primary line of work is providing tech support - I love to help people! I have done tech support for ISPs, software companies, and now for a very large hosting provider. My hobbies include running a FreeBSD server and keeping my sysadmin skills sharp, playing MMOs like World of Warcraft and City of Heroes, and costuming. Nice to meet you all, and I hope to be able to create something nice here. Current project: Check the Logs Regards, -Tep. |

I am sure that once you get to explore the pages of this forum and look at some basic themeing tutorials you will be able to transform the basic ocPortal theme to your heart's content. I always suggest beginners to start by replacing the logo and background images with their own and see how far this transformation will go to completely change the look of their site. All images are directly accessible from –>Manage themes–>Manage theme images. Enjoy your discovery of ocPortal! |

Always nice to see another game related site using ocPortal. And how appropriate now that Robbie has shared the 'gaming website' roots of ocPortal.
Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S / Galaxy S II ? If so, why not check out my ScreenFree FM Radio .

He played WoW for about 14 hours a day, every single day, solidly. He would only leave his room to use the toilet and eat, and he slept for the remaining 10 hours. In fact, he was so hooked on the game that he refused to walk the 5 minutes to the local supermarket because he would rather level up his character than bother to buy and cook his own food…so he lived off Domino's Pizza instead. He basically devoted his entire life to playing this game. I remember one amusing evening when we were all online, and our connection went down for about twenty minutes. Not even The Hulk could have raged as hard as my friend did when he got disconnected from the server. There was door-slamming, screaming, and I think he even smashed a glass against his wall! Up until then, I had no idea what WoW was actually about. While I love computer games (and enjoy developing my own in my spare time), I have never had much of an interest in the role-playing genre (until Star Trek Online came out, that is). I hope that my friend's level of addiction is not something you have in common with him!
