Just a hello from me

Well I am here to check out the script, and see if it meets my needs for one of my upcoming domains. I am interested in seeing if OCP will meet my expectations and actually become my new choice over "other" cms.

I look forward to being a part of the community.

Thanks, Fletch :)

You don't happen to know what I need to change in order to allow me to edit the settings/config page, do you? Right now the only way I can edit it is to go through the entire setup wizard steps. PITA that is… :)

When I try to edit the settings it responds with an error about "/adminzone/index.php not found"

That error may be being misreported by Apache. Talk to your webhost about modsecurity, ask if any rules are blocking the URL you're trying.

Hi Chris :) The error I get is as follows.

"Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /adminzone/index.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

I get this when I go to setup > config > site options… and then click on save/proceed at the bottom of the page.

Would this be due to something in the htaccess ?

Thanks, I've read that and I've attempted to make the changes. I'm not used to being on the "hosted" end of things and having to rely on cpanel for much of anything. It would appear that this is out of my control. I'll have to call the host later tonight or tomorrow and get them to work with me on resolving this.

Thanks for the assistance :)

Tell your host that you need ALL the rules listed on that above mod_security page white-listed, not just the ones(s) that are currently causing you problems (the ones that they might see in their logs).

So the hosting tech is telling the customer service rep I am on the phone with, that they don't provide support for this issue. 0,o'

 O_o

My Question then is as simple as "Why provide the OCPortal application in your hosting panel if you do not provide tech support related to the functionality between said application & your servers?

I just got shut down. Told there was no support they could offer me related to this issue.

Anyone want to take a guess as to who my awesome host co. is?

Why provide an application within your hosting panel, especially when applications can be selected individually per package, if you are not going to provide tech support on the matters as mentioned above…. this is not a matter of developer coding error, this is a matter of server side.

I'm so annoyed right now. This is a clear cut example that even jackasses can own corporations.

So disappointing.

I have used ARVIXE.com in the USA and found their support excellent so far. The install routine ran first time without any errors. I ran into user issues not being an experienced c-Panel user having lived a solitary and unimaginative life in the Windows server world. These tickets were all answered within a very quick time on their support forums. In fact they keep asking me if I am okay and do I need any further help and there are few who do that. I did read a couple of negative reports but it seems the users did not work with support over a period and bailed out.

I have not tried hosting OCP on GoDaddy but have other NON CMS sites there which are all due to upgrade soon and OCP will definitely be something we look at. Your post gives me no clues who you are referring to but as I have said I have had no problems so far with Arvixe and between the fantastic crew at OCP who send replies at ridiculous times of their night and the Arvixe people I cannot say a bad word about OCP or the Hosting providers previoulsy mentioned.

OK. This is not making any sense. I used the same installer to install ocp on two websites that are both hosted on the same server.

Site A is allowing me to edit and save changes thru the   Block/panel layout (Zone Editor)

Site B is sending me an error telling me it can't find a suitable representation for adminzone/index.php

Any ideas?

That looks like a mod_security problem. Get your host to white list all the rules listed in Configuring mod_security - ocPortal.com .

Ok, well given that the website -that clears the save process with no issue- is hosted on the same server as the website that does not save properly, in fact the primary domain fails when I click save, and then the addon domain passess… confuses me.

And I have spent over 5 hrs on the phone with these guys trying to resolve this. The reason I have not called yet is due to the above explained, I don't understand how the primary domain fails but the addon domain has no issue performing the same function.

Is that possibly something in the settings or something I am missing with permissions? gettin frustrated with this.

My understanding is that mod_security is typically managed per domain, not per account which explains why one can work while another fails.

Are you using separate install directories on the server for each URL.

You are using I assume Host Header Redirection for the respective web sites.

I would be installing each instance in a sub directory structure off the root that is in the root directory you would have created a directory \abc.com and \xyz.com or whatever. Then the software will be executed installed from each of those directories.

This will create completely separate installation files and sub directory trees in each of the two domains and when it installs you will install with the correct URL being entered into the install screen.

There will be NO common files that can be confused and you will have two completely stand alone installs.

You need to be installing this from the server itself logged in to the root via FTP or using the C-Panel control panel "Create a directory" and then FTP the install files into each of the two directories.

The result you want is two completely stand alone OCP installs that have been installed with two separate unique URL's and all files are then using the unique URL.

That's how I would attack this to start with. It might not be what others would do but I would start with two separate greenfield installations.
