Me again  :$

Translated theme images (buttons, like reply, mark read, etc.) do not display.
They're in the images_custom/FR folder, tried just dumping the lot in there, didn't work. Now they're in the same folder structure as themes/default/images/EN/…/ , still doesn't work.
Having keep_lang=FR in the url or not doesn't change anything. All the rest is in french, images are still in english. (From the right theme, but from the EN folder.).
Any clue?

Other question (probably a strong candidate for the SQV…), when translating the text on the buttons (in photoshop) some buttons have to be made wider, otherwise font size would be unreadable. The blue thing accepts being pulled, but when saving to web the button is truncated to its original size.
How could I con photoshop into saving the whole thing?

;)

Have you tried emptying the theme image cache?
The system falls back to English if translated files are initially missing, which sticks in the cache if you don't either:
  • manually empty the cache
  • or, manually upload the theme images one-by-one via the theme image editing screens (which is a pain so I wouldn't recommend that).

I'll save this for someone else as I'm not really particularly great with Photoshop myself. Personally I would change the canvas size, select the right hand half of the image and shift it over, then copy and paste in to fill in the gap in the center. But there may well be a better way. - Nonsense, see below ;).

The blue handles you're referring to are called "slices".

The buttons are all arranged with slices side-by-side. If you tried to expand one slice into another slice's area, Photoshop might still crop it at the old dimensions when you do a "Save for web".

If you need to expand the images, then you're going to have to move the buttons further away from each other, and then adjust the slices so everything still lines up.

Cache emptied, no images.

The system falls back to English if translated files are initially missing
Could that mean that, as for the lang ini files, ALL the files HAVE to be there, in the same folder structure?
That wouldn't be a big problem, solution in this case would be to copy the whole themes/mytheme/images/EN folder into themes/mytheme/images/FR, and upload the translated images in themes/mytheme/images_custom/FR.
It worked for the lang files, should also work for images.
I'll give it a go later when I come back.

Have a nice day

Hi,

No, sorry that won't work for this.

However…

I just remembered why this is happening (memory lapse yesterday!). Technically it isn't quite a bug, as we don't specify you can manually copy stuff into that folder - however I do want it to work, so when I realised I couldn't do it a few weeks ago, I added a fix for it into 4.2. I would have put that fix into 4.1 but as it was a fairly core change I considered that too risky. Since then no one has found any related problems in 4.2, and it 4.2 is in active use on a number of sites I'm involved with, so I think now it is safe to copy the fix back to 4.1.

What I said about emptying the theme image cache still applies though :).

Hmmm…
copied images/EN to images/FR, and some translated ones in images_custom/FR.
No way.
I remember having had the same pb with the logo, had to put it in the EN folders to get it to show.

Any ideas?

Hi, did you read my last post before replying? I'm guessing it was bad timing (2 mins apart).

No change  :'(

"empty the theme image cache"
Did this through upgrader, empty caches. Was this right, or is there another way?

You'll need to do it via the cleanup tools.
Admin Zone, Tools section, Cleanup tools. The theme image cache is one of the options on there.

Ah… that's the trick!

Just did this, and it works like a dream.
Last bunch of psd files Allen posted for download is fine, they're all there.

Only 4 of them need translating. Had to enlarge some a bit, no visual damage and fits fine even with 1024 resolution. Doesn't even mess-up the layout. Amazing…

Here they are in french, original ocp theme:

Also have them in a darker shade of blue (both french and english), PM me if someone wants them.

Have a nice weekend everyone ;)
