Japanese translation

I am going to translate the language into Japanese.
But, I would like to know if I can improve the grammar and spelling that you haven't corrected.
I am really good in spelling, just not wording, which I can take from your language file? :P

But if you would rather have it word for word how you have your language file, I will keep it that way.

There's no need to repeat our mistakes ;).

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Sooooo, does that mean change the language file with better spelling and words, or, leave it the same?

Oh I see - well if you find mistakes, we'd love it if you corrected them then sent us the altered .ini files :).

Okay, I hope i'm not stupid in your eyes, but, how do I edit the language files externally?  Meaning, out of ocPortal.
I looked and my lang directory seems to have no language files for editing.

I am much more confident doing it in the file rather than in the site itself.

So how would I go about doing that?

ocp-2-1.2-manual\lang\EN               <= the directory, there you have to change the .ini files.

AUTHOR_MANAGE=Author management
The red part is the part that needs to be changed.

:D  Dont shoot the messenger!!  :D

It would probably be best if you duplicated all the language files in \lang\EN\ to a new folder; \lang\JP\ and then you can look at the English ones for reference later ;)

Sorry to double post, but, I am doing the language file and want to know if {1} can be replaced?  As in "Your last backup was taken {1} days ago"
Can that be replaced?

No, the number inserted there comes from ocPortal's code; what would you like to change about it?

Greetings Dark Hedgehog,
I see you're doing some work on translating OCP into Japanese.

Hows it coming?

I see you're in CA and I'm assuming you're Bi-lingual?

Speak and Write?

With breaks, drawing, friends and other various breaks/vacations, its coming slowly but progressing GREATLY.

I have some files done already.

But unlike others, not that they are wrong nor right, I am not going to say how many files I have done.

Once its done, its done.
And no, I haven't stopped, just busy a lot.

Yes, I am in California and I am close to bi-lingual.
Japanese may as well be considered my second language.
And I speak it yes.
