The next release, out in approximately two days, includes a 30% German translation by FliX (and I think, a friend of his). I suspect it needs work, as it was partly done for a very old 2.5 beta and partly done for 2.1 - but it should be a good start!

Ok, i will wait for this days and start up with the existing translation as a base.

I found also the psd-files with the buttons, icons etc.
A smaller problem i have to do translations is the font.  O_o
I don't have this one.
When you can tell me where i can get it i take it. :)

Well-settled

Hi,

I'm very fond of ocp and I think that proper translations are essential for spreading the word of ocp, so I started a German translation of my own a few days ago.

Yes, I know about the launchpad project, but I found that the current German translation is a somewhat inconsistent mix of automatically translated phrases, formal German and informal German. Some entries are plainly wrong, e.g. the phrases at the beginning of global.ini that must not be translated at all according to their description.

I think that everybody contributing to a translation does so more or less minding his own installation, e.g. by keeping the language formal or informal. But that's not a good thing if we all want to introduce the software to foreign markets.

Is there some kind of policy that ocProducts wants the translators to follow?

Have a nice one,
Lowlander

Hi,

A few people have brought up the same point.

We're pretty hands-off because:
a) We're by no means experts on languages other than English.
b) We can't really tell people what to do, as different people want different things, and everyone is a volunteer.

What I would suggest is trying to encourage the Launchpad people to introduce a language variants feature. That way we can have formal and informal variants on languages, and other things like regional dialects.
