  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Traduction française, French traduction

I think this is a error because Belgacom is in french and based on OCportal, why we don't have a package in french ?

Pour les français : Je pense qu'il y a une petite erreur parce que Belgacom est en français et basé sur OCPortal, et pourquoi n'avons nous pas encore de package en français ?

In a buyed version ?

Dans une version payante ? :D

Hi,

Wouldn't mind having a go at translating this into french.

Had a look at the translated files already available. It's incomplete, and I wouldn't use what's already translated on my site (full of spells and meaning is sometimes wrong) without heavy proofing. For what I've seen, it's huge work if we want it done properly, with no mistakes and a professional feel.

If Chris wants to get in touch, any of these can be used:
email: marc@boeufdantan.com
Skype: moimaim

(btw, i'm french, and a professional translator since 1979).

Regards

Hello moimaim As I already said the translation was made partly with a translator on line then I was done helped by the site of belgastuce. I know that there is always has to translate and rectified the errors, but what remains largest A to translate are the help files. And a help do not have a refusal

Bruno, for a working translation you only need to translate the ini files in the lang folder.
Ive done it like that for the dutch translation also.

:D  Dont shoot the messenger!!  :D

I guess a warning in your line of work tends tomean 'run for cover'. Fortunately it's not so severe when it comes to computers ;).

Hmmm, my GF is actually French and a translator for a Trust company and helps me out with my own business.

If someone wants to email me the files (or even just samples) for her to have a look at, I am sure she might be interested in helping depending upon how 'technical' any of it is and how much of it there is to do.

I assume my email is linked to my UN…

By UN do you mean profile?

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Hi Chris

Any chance of getting the same type of treat as last time concerning modifications in V4 language files?
(I remerber you sent me a bunch of files where new and modified strings were identified, which did help a lot…)

Just in case, here's the french version of V3:
Attachment
» Download: v3_lang_fr.rar (46 Kb, 341 downloads so far)

while we're at it, is there a non-photoshop version of the site images?

Last, please inform on best procedure to install a second language on a site.
(like, just ran the install script, what do i do next?)
This will be translated and posted in the "French" topic.
If someone volonteers to draft a simple and short list of "how do I" items relating to the basics of the system, I'll be happy to translate these as well.

Be good ;)

Hi,

How's life?

Here you go:

Hopefully it won't drive you crazy that we've made lots of little changes all over. Usability has been a big thing in v4 so a lot of the strings were changed to be easier to understand, and also a lot now contain HTML (e.g. 'strong' tags) to guide the eyes a bit.

while we're at it, is there a non-photoshop version of the site images?

Sorry, no. I seem to remember reading "Paint.net" can read psd's though (it's a free image program, not related to MS paint).
