I like it! You all do amazing work on this project. You are the experts at what you do and don't think otherwise.

It looks like you are having a few troubles with the site for some reason but maybe you are just fixing bugs you found or trying something new. Or maybe theres crazy hackers in the area.

First I noticed the link on the main article doesn't work to /site/news/view/new_releases/ocportal-6-beta1.htm

Then I tried to come post about it and say "awesome release" but then I couldn't access the site so I just waited a few mins and came back and now it seemed to work a little better but still has some problems. So you must be working on it.

Anyway, amazing job! I see you liked the install profiles idea =) I wonder what else you've added.

I guess I may as well post the problem I found so far right here. I guess you don't have a bugs forum to post bugs in? Or am I supposed to sign up at and use the bug reporting tool that it is linking to?

One little thing I noticed is when I ran the setup wizard again, at step 9: "Choose whether to leave the website closed for now, or whether to open it to the public." The first time I ran the wizard I unchecked this step but left text in the box. The second time I ran the wizard this step was unchecked but no text was in the box and clicking Proceed tells me to fill in the box, but I have to check the checkbox first before I can even do that because the textarea box is disabled.

I guess this new install profiles just requires a little work because I noticed someone else had an error with the setup wizard. My setup wizard did a similar thing the first time I ran it and after the error I can't browse any pages without an error and can only run the setup wizard again. When I selected the install Profile for Community it went through the setup wizard fine, I didn't change the default options. It gave the error which I pasted below.

The second time I ran the setup wizard I selected online Store and it went through fine. Then I did it again with blog and it went fine. Then when I did it again I noticed the only 3 profiles left to choose from were for N/A, Information/brochure site, Blog, and Community. So now I am just stopping.

But at the end of the first setup wizard it gives this error:

The following addons are installed that depend on news which is being uninstalled: syndication_blocks.

Also it has a stack trace:

An error has occurred

The following addons are installed that depend on news which is being uninstalled: syndication_blocks. (version: 6.0 beta1, PHP version: 5.3.5, URL: /oc6/adminzone/index.php?page=admin_setupwizard&keep_fatalistic=1&type=step10)

Here is the stack trace:

Below is a stack trace revealing the state the software was in when the error occurred. If this represents a bug in the unmodified software, you may want to check ocPortal website for a fix, and if there isn't one, report this as a bug. Please note that merely posting a stack trace is not sufficient for us to solve your problem; the stack trace is just an aid that presents us with additional information. We still need to know the error message, what you tried to do, how you tried to do it, version numbers, and any other appropriate information.
We apologise for this problem and if it's a bug we hope you will work with us so that we can fix it for you promptly.

Thanks.

Yeah we had a few site issues. First we were testing v6 on it and fixing a few issues there. There were a couple of infinite loops that had to be tracked down. Then bots decided to hit the server all at once at the same time system load was quite high when I was running some background maintenance tasks. Then there were a few glitches relating to some configuration changes I made. It should all be fixed now.

You can either post bugs on the forum or on the tracker (which uses the same logins).

I'm working on the various bugs people have reported at the moment.

Because the Setup Wizard uninstalls a load of addons, it limits it's own ability to do things if it's re-run. But you can go to addon management and put the addons back. Lots of people are going to find this so I'm adding a message about it.

I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Oh no the robots are attacking, what do we do? I guess it still works though so it is still awesome. That's what beta is for too. And cleaning my cache helped I think. But not for that other bug I was talking about. It was still there. I imagine just deleting it all and starting over would fix it though. Plus you probably somehow already have done many new things by now anyway since then because you just keep moving on ahead so quickly.

To workaround the one you found you need to manually make sure 'news' is ticked for now.
