Going local has slowed me down..

Has anyone found that using Wamp locally has slowed their browsers down ? When using wamp i notice that running local sites has a slow reaction when viewing pages as well as internet browsing when Wamp is running.

I run WAMPServer on one machine and XAMPP on another. Both machines are running Windows 7. They aren't dedicated web servers and aren't optimised for that task, so the local sites do run somewhat slow. But while the local sites are somewhat slow, I can't say that I've noticed any slowdown in Internet browsing.

I use the Bitnami WAMP Stack locally, mainly because wampserver hasn't been updated in quite a while now but I doubt I would revert back to wampserver. No slow loading speeds for me.

EDIT: An Admin Zone search for 'firewall' should find the "My server uses firewall and IP forwarding, or uses a Windows computer name instead of DNS" setting which may help speed things up.

I might give Bitnami a go King. I had starting over but if it means getting some speed back i am willing to do it. TY for the reference.

I did a little snooping and it seems that two of my DLL's are throwing errors. Might be mismatched 64/32 bit issues when it comes to the DLL's.

I admit that i am a laptop pack rat and save every file i ever had. I have files from 1991 still.  :$

I still have the Windows 3.1 install disks..

Bitnami WAMP Stack has everything up-to-date and pre-configured. I don't think I needed to edit any files. They also provide an ocPortal Stack which makes the job even easier but I went for the WAMP Stack and installed ocPortal myself. That setting certainly makes the site load up quicker for me on Windows 7, so hope it does the same for you.

Downloading now, I swear i do not know how i have missed ocP all of these years. I have used/tried Joomla, Wordpress, Postnuke, PHP-Nuke, Ravennuke, Platinum Nuke, Pulse, SMF and others. I think what drew me to ocP was it's responsiveness and features. Not to mention the active community and development to keep the code current and secure which in the ends means the most. I was a HUGE Nuke fan but the code was so stale it was hard to get past the errors and lack of updates etc.
