Hello everyone.

I was wondering. I noticed while checking out ocPortal v5.0 that while logged a a standard user when visiting a page to submit some content ("Content Managment" page) the standard user can see some of the admin links. Now when they try to visit the page that is blocked to standard users it gives them a page stating they are not allowed.

What I was wanting to know is if there is a setting that would hide those links from standard users or would somethng like this have to be coded?

Nice CMS by the way. It has a lot built in that I have ben looking for in an all in one package. There are a few things I would like to add but that will come later. ;)

Hi SamK,

There are several things you can do to restrict Menu Items from displaying on your site based on group permissions. Here is a "Quick Tutorial" I've made to illustrate some options:

Actually this particular menu is auto-generated. I'm looking at a possible fix now.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

OOPS! Somehow, I didn't realize that these links were actually still accessible by non-admin. Thanks Chris, this update did the trick!
